Usually, I'm doing that when it is being put into first gear when I back out of my garage to put it into first gear. If I don't push on the accelerator then my car will stall.
At this point, I'm pushing on the clutch, and the accelerator, while going from neutral to first gear.

If stopping at the traffic lights do I :
1) put the car into N > handbrake on and R foot on the floor
2) put the car into D> handbrake on and R foot on the brake
3) put the car into P> handbrake on and R foot on the floor.
My husband says:- keep car in D> R foot on the brake and handbrake on.
I feel this is dangerous, in case one's foot slips off the brake !?
Please help me settle a very heated discussion. Many thanks.

I am removing the drivers side axle shaft on a 2001 dodge grand caravan. Is it supposed to pop out of the transmission like most other axle shafts or do you need to remove the five bolts around the shaft where it goes into the trans. Thanks so much for your help in advance. 3.3L automatic!

One night, I started up my car (1996 Dodge Stratus). The starter wouldn't disengage for about 10 minutes, even when I turned the car off and removed the key. It eventually shut off and now when I try to start it, there is just silence, not even a clicking sound. The lights do not dim when I attempt to start it, but the radio and wipers won't work, but the power windows are fine. The instrument cluster does not even show the "fasten seat belt" or the "check engine" lights in the "on" position, but the "brake" and odometer lights show. I tried jump-starting the car, but I think the batteries are fine. What seems to be the problem? Does my starter need to be replaced? Do I need a wire replaced somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My old nissan altima, which is junked now, has blew the head gasket twice, in two years, and has had so much damage to it over those years as well. Now I have a new vehicle. It's a Dodge, I'm supporting the American auto business! Do not insult my car! lol.

Anyways, being that it's a Dodge aside,

are ALL cars guaranteed to have a blown head gasket eventually/engine trouble or is that a bad luck thing which cannot be predicted?

What causes head gaskets to blow in most cases anyways, or having additional engine problems?

IS there any way to prevent this aside from regular oil changes, and checking your fluids?

Please help me if you can - I will try to give as much info as I can. I bought a used car last Monday. The steering wheel was at 10 oclock when the car was going straight (so, it was off-center) - but there was NO vibration in the steering wheel. I bought it back to the place where I got it and they "fixed" the problem. Now the wheel is perfectly straight when driving straight but I'm experiencing something I've never seen before... when I drive between 65 and 75 MPH (Yes I know the speed limit is 65) the wheel shimmys - BUT - it shimmy for a few seconds then stops for like 10 seconds!! Then it shimmys for a few seconds and stops again! I am going a constant speed when this is happening and not driving over anything rough or bumpy - I know - it sounds crazy! The only think I see is one of the rear alloy wheels has a bend in it (where the rim meets the tire it is bent a little) but I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not - the place said they rebalanced the tires!

I was sold a car on Auto trader that not only had a rebuilt title that I was never told about, but also has a cracked frame. I am unable to even get it titled in my state as it has to pass inspection and it won't with the cracked frame. Therefore, I have a car that I can't get in my name, fix, get inspected, or even sell without a title. Do you think I should pursue this legally to try to get my money back. It was $2500

It's an older truck, automatic transmission. When I put it in drive, it will occasionally stay in low gear for awhile. At first it wasn't really a problem because it only happened when the truck had been left to set for awhile, but now it happens all the time. Is my transmission shelling out? or is it just a part that I can replace?

Friend has several !!! moving violations and tickets - a few years old. Wants to get his license back. Any way of doing restitution other than paying the fines? Is there any way some of them can be forgiven because they are so old? They are way past contesting and he admits they are his but just can't pay them all off. Does he just get used to never being able to drive again now that he is a bit (?) more mature??

I have a 216 inline six engine with a Carter carb. It is in a 1941 Chevy Coupe. The engine was running a couple months ago. I noticed the bulb would not fill up so I have checked the fuel pump. On the outgoing side of the pump fuel seems to flow but maybe there's not enough pressure. There is a vacuum device under the distributor. What is that part? How does it work? I took off the hose that leads from that little vacuum to the carb. There is no pressure or suction out of it when the car is starting with starting fluid. Could this be the problem or do I just have a weak fuel pump? If it is a bad fuel pump is it better to replace or repair? Thanks for all advise.

Hi experts.
Recently the passenger side tail light of my 2006 toyota corolla LE stopped functioning completely. The brake light, blinker and reverse lights do not illuminate at all. I don't know much about cars or electronics but I'm sensing this might have something to do with a fuse of some kind.
Does anyone know of things I could try myself before giving into the repair mechanic?

Thanks so much for your help.
