A shiny red button called "ignition". There are a handful of switches you need to flip first btw. Not only that but planes have several engines, each needs to be turned on individually.

Jet engines need to spin fast enough to compress a fuel/air mixture, detonate the mixture, and expell the gasses out the back. So, you need something to turn the shaft to a decent speed, an ignition source, and fuel. Some small jet engines are started with an electrical starter off a battery. Larger engines are started with compressed air off either an auxilary power unit or even another running engine. Some old turbojets were even started with a black powder cartridge that provides enough force to spool the engine up.
In some aircraft the start procedure can be relatively complex.

Small aircraft have keys and ignition switches that start prop engines from batteries. Jets normally require an auxilary power unit (APU) which can be housed on the plane or in a truck driven up to the plane. Fighter jets are often housed in a hanger with doors on both ends so that permanently wired starting units can fire them up then be disconnected and the plane take off (or nearly so) from inside the hanger with the exhaust going out the back.

Dont know about fighter jets , however to start aeroplane a key MIGHT be involved, but not exactly like you do in the car, first you must follow a checklist that turns on battery, gas etc.
for my PA 28-180 (Piper Cherokee)
IT goes something like this:
Before Starting Engine:
1Perform preflight inspection in accordance with owners manual
2. Load is with in limit
3. Parking Brake...SET
4. Safety Belts.....FASTENED.
5. Radios and electrical equipment....OFF
Starting Engine
1. Fuel set on fullest tank
2. Carburetor heat...OFF
3. Master switch...ON
4. Fuel Pump...ON check for pressure
5.Mixture......Full Rich
6. Prime as required
7. Throttle... Open 1/4"
8. Propeller area....clear
9. Ignition switch.. START (this is where the key goes and turns to the "start" position)
10. When engine starts, Oil..Pressure....Check
11.Radios...ON
12. Anticollision light....ON
13. Fuel Pump...OFF

well first of all ur engines cant just be strted by pressing switches... most aircraft engines strt off of bleed air..thats y most aircraft have an apu. once the apu is strted the bleed air from that can be used to strt motoring the engine..this is all accomplished from flipping those switches for the apu and each engines ignityion strter buttons. then u trhottle the engines up to keep them running
