2008 Nissan Rogue AWD

2008 Saturn Vue FWD or AWD

2007 Nissan Murano FWD

2008 Mazda CX-7 2WD
With all the cars, I will want Sunroof, leather, DVD Entertainment for my girls in the back seat and I want to make sure my backseat is roomy enough for 2 car seats and my 10 year old daughter. Gas milage is also another important consideration. I'm trying to keep the cost of the car around 30,000. Which car is the better choice? Please help! Thanks!!!

I'd most likely choose the CX-7. Despite its unattractive looks, it is ideal for any driver who needs roominess and reliability in a Compact Package. It has plenty of passenger space, adequate vroom, and yes, zoom-zoom. The 2008 Mazda CX-7 upholds Mazda's tradition of bringing fun to an otherwise practical-minded segment. Luggage capacity trails most of its competitors by about 6 cubic feet, though, with about 30 cubes of space behind the second row. Maximum capacity is 58.6 cubic feet, which is on par with the Nissan Rogue but more than 10 cubes fewer than the RAV4 and CR-V.

Good Luck.

Nissan Rogue just for the AWD factor, with the Murano coming in a close second place.
If the CX7 is the turbo charged engine that would be my 3rd choice, if not the saturn would be my 3rd choice.

Would also consider cars such as: Toyota Rav4 or Highlander, Honda CRV or Pilot, Acura RDX

As far as future cost repairs go and future scheduled maintenance and available parts and rebuilt parts like alternators and brake calipers go, I 'd stick with the Saturn. They seem to build a decent and affordable vehicle that has a similar life expectancy as the Nissan and Toyota cars but the Saturn will cost you less to maintain and repair in the future.

That being said, I'd Google the models you mentioned and see if their is any negative Internet press on either of the models or if their were any recalls and so forth.

P.S. Have the dealer show you where the transmission dipstick is and I'll bet the Nissan's don't have one but the Saturn might.

Good Luck!

I second Bill W's suggestion on the Ford Escape Hybrid.

The Ford Escape Hybrid would be a lot lower-maintenance than any of those conventional vehicles.

- The Escape Hybrid uses regenerative braking, which means you don't need to change the brake pads until after 100,000 miles.

- The Escape Hybrid has a MUCH BETTER transmission than any of those cars-- A simple Power Split Device gearset, no gear shifting. Much simpler and hence tougher than normal gear-shifting multispeed transmissions or Nissan's friction-belt-driven CVT tranny.

- The Escape Hybrid has no starter solenoid or motor (which frequently causes problems in regular cars). It also has no timing belt or alternator. That's less things to wear out and need repair.

- The Hybrid components such as the battery has an 8-year / 100,000 mile warranty. If it dies before 8 years, Ford will replace it for free.

- You can easily get 30 MPG in the Escape Hybrid.

- The Escape Hybrid costs around $28K with midrange trim levels.

You should be able to get the Ford Escape Hybrid or Mercury Mariner Hybrid (these are basically the same vehicle) with the trim options you need.

Good luck.

How about the Ford Escape Hybrid? That will solve all of your problems including being fuel efficient. As far as Nissan and Mazda Nissan Murano has not been all that relivable and the Mazda is a a ford Edge. The Saturn well there nice enough I just prefer to keep as much money in my country as possible. So The Imports would be out of the Question for me.

I would not go for the 2008 Mazda CX-7 2WD
It's a good car but you might want the 4WD (much better in terms of safety).
Another good option is the Nissan or the Rav4.

2008 Saturn Vue AWD

The new Vue is a good one.

It is going to be difficult to get a murano for less than 30k.

Mazda is good too. The Rogue is new, so wait to see how it drives.

I would buy a Escape manual.

I would rule out the saturn, it's a GM product. I like the AWD, if you live in an area that gets snow it's a great feature. I would go with the Rogue.
