There is almost always issues with "cheap" cars. They're usually cheap for a reason. This means the few thousand you may save on buying "cheap" ends up being spent on repairs ...which was why the car was cheap to buy in the first place...

If someone could sell a car for $20k then why wouldn't they do so? If the car is worth $20K but is selling for $15K it's probably because it would cost the owner $5K to fix what's wrong with it.

Auctions and repo's can save you money, but these cars have usually been driven hard and put away wet, as the saying goes...

What is cheap for you?
On Autotrader.com, there are many RX-8's for under $15,000 with under 50,000 miles on them. That is a good deal considering a Nissan 350z costs at least $4000 more And an RX-8 is just as fast as a 350z. nearly identical 0-60 times and they have the same top speed.

Cheap?
10K will be one that runs. Not well.
5K will be a scam, rolling chassis, or a salvage with no title.

Not cheap. Not cheap at all.
Try something that has been around longer, not just 4 model years...

Try someplace that sells repo's, salvage title vehicles etc. You can also try ebay, their are some salvage sellers on their, though be prepared to make the needed repairs for getting your car cheap.
