Please help me if you can - I will try to give as much info as I can. I bought a used car last Monday. The steering wheel was at 10 oclock when the car was going straight (so, it was off-center) - but there was NO vibration in the steering wheel. I bought it back to the place where I got it and they "fixed" the problem. Now the wheel is perfectly straight when driving straight but I'm experiencing something I've never seen before... when I drive between 65 and 75 MPH (Yes I know the speed limit is 65) the wheel shimmys - BUT - it shimmy for a few seconds then stops for like 10 seconds!! Then it shimmys for a few seconds and stops again! I am going a constant speed when this is happening and not driving over anything rough or bumpy - I know - it sounds crazy! The only think I see is one of the rear alloy wheels has a bend in it (where the rim meets the tire it is bent a little) but I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not - the place said they rebalanced the tires!

I would have to say your tires are out of balance. Even though they said they were balanced. I bought two new tires and I had the ssame problem on my way home from the shop. I went back and after a re-balance it was fine. If the tires are good, then spend the 20. it cost to have all tires balanced before buying new ones.

The tires themselves could have uneven wear. There could be flat spots and other tires problems. If everything is balanced and aligned properly then invest in 4 new brand name tires. Spend at least $300 on all four. Remember your life is riding on the tires. Make sure your front end is tight. Stabilizer bar, tie rod ends, ball joints, A frame bushings, wheel bearings etc. and next time tell us what model and year it is so we know what front end components there are.

sounds like static wheel imballance, ideally have a wheel allignment and ballance done, but you can swap the front and rear tyres and see if the poblem is still there.

Pos tie rod ends, take it to a front suspension specialist and have a safety check done.
