I finally feel comfortable driving my new car and I just have a few questions about it. I always shift before 3000 RPM's. But in order to get better acceleration I should shift just before I redline correct? I was told that this is the best way to accelerate quicker and get optimal performance. I know it will make the gas mileage much worse...but Will this hurt my car if I only do it sometimes? I taught myself how to drive it and was never told any of these things so I've just aired on the side of caution until now...which is probably a good idea since I just got out of the break-in period. Can anyone give me any tips about shifting and faster acceleration? Thanks!

I've changed the fuse numerous times, but still no luck. The compressor clutch turns smooth if I turn it by hand. There are no leaks of any kind and the system is charged. I've checked the relays and they work fine. I'm thinking is the compressor going bad, but not sure, please help!

On a car like the 1964 Mustang (generator) and 1965 Mustang (alternator)?

is there another fuse someplace that connects the two. The ac worked fine previously and so did the blinkers. They both went out at the same time. all lights, brakes work fine but no turn signals, front or back, just before the AC blower went, i turned the car on, and it didnt work. I turned it off, turned back on, and the ac came on. This happened a couple of times before it totally went blank. Radio works good, wipers, cruise not working. Any help appreciated.

The brake light was on dimly but when I got the RPM's above 3000 they both went off. Anything I can do to check it or what the problem is outright? All help is greatly appreciated.

I just spent 2 hours at the DMV, they don't take credit cards so I had to hunt down an ATM , they don't have a way to print out new drivers licenses so you have to wait 3 weeks while they mail it, and I think the camera they use still uses film. If they would update their technology it would cut their cost, why don't they do it? Picture this, you go to a website and type in your information and get a confirmation ID and pay your fees, then you go to the DMV, walk right up to one of the 5 stations they already have, show your ID and confirmation number to validate, they take your picture, check your eyes andas you walk out the door they hand you your drivers license. One do-it-all approach instead of having to wait in 3 lines at the only place in town that doesn't take credit cards.

allowing the auto shut down relay to complete the circuit, so now there is now power for the fuel pump or coil the engine just turns and the check engine light does not come on.

Not sure if this will work or not, I know those jumper boxes have the juice to start the car. But do they have enough power to leave it connected to the battery to run the electrical long enough to get the car to a mechanic. having alternator issues. thanks

The alternator was replaced by removing right front wheel and going in underneath. On the way home I notice a "shimmery" noise I had never heard before on the right side. Took car back, they say boot on left front needs replaced and bearing on right front wneel needs replaced, supposedly due to nothing they did. The boot he knew about, the bearing he didn't...I asked why wasn't I told about the boot ..."well I was told to replace the alternator". He didn't remove where the bearing was to get to the alternator they say. They ordered the bearing twice, it is too small although they say that's what the catalog calls for. They say this means somewhere down the line someone replaced the spindle. The Hyundai place only has one more type of bearing it could be and they don't know if it will fit or not, but it is the only option left. It will be Tues or Wed before the part will come in. If that part doesn't work who knows what will be next. Am I being ripped off or does this sound legit?

I'm trying to sell my '95 civic that has 364k miles. Selling a high mileage car is not easy so I was wondering how to turn back the odometer. i'm obviously not turning it back to 0 miles, I just want to turn it back to the miles it states on the pink slip and say i had it garaged for a while. do you know how I can do this? Any help would be appreciated.

~Thanks~

Im going to look at a 2001 Automactic VW Jetta tomorrow but im not sure if it's a good deal or overpriced. It has 57,000 miles on it, the person selling it is the second owner and comes fully loaded. This will be the first car I've ever purchased so i want to know what I should look for when I am inspecting it. Also, am I paying to much?? should I try and lower the price?? to how much? Is this model know for having certain problems with it? how much would maintaince cost for the car? Also what kind of questions should I ask when i go look at it?

I have a Chevy 1500 pickup and there's a switch right below the headlights and I can't figure out what id does or which way it's supposed to go to be off.... all the letters are faded or rubbed off.

Does anyone have a similar truck that knows what this switch is for and what position it needs to be in to be off? Or where can I find a diagram of the dash layout?

It looks like it said something something lamp... but I can't make it out
