The brake light was on dimly but when I got the RPM's above 3000 they both went off. Anything I can do to check it or what the problem is outright? All help is greatly appreciated.

Check out the battery light first by.
1. Making sure the contacts to the battery are clean and tight
2. Getting the alternator checked. It sounds to me like your alternator is going out.
3. Get the battery tested too.
Most parts stores will test battery and alternator for free.

Alternator is on its way out,replace it before it goes dead in the middle of the road.

Sounds like you have a charging system issue. Have your battery and alt checked

all good answers so dude listen to them is obvious your alternator is dying when you replace your alternator recomended to change your battery
