I finally feel comfortable driving my new car and I just have a few questions about it. I always shift before 3000 RPM's. But in order to get better acceleration I should shift just before I redline correct? I was told that this is the best way to accelerate quicker and get optimal performance. I know it will make the gas mileage much worse...but Will this hurt my car if I only do it sometimes? I taught myself how to drive it and was never told any of these things so I've just aired on the side of caution until now...which is probably a good idea since I just got out of the break-in period. Can anyone give me any tips about shifting and faster acceleration? Thanks!

Your engine will produce the most power and torque at two different engine speeds (rpm). Your tc producing 160 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm, but max horsepower at 5700, which is pretty close to your redline of 6200. To optimize your shifts, I'd say to wait until at least 4000, when you hit your max torque. Without knowing the power curves of your car, the best rpm will vary, but somewhere between those two numbers. Beyond 5700, your car will be producing less power. While sometimes it will make sense to hold onto the gear longer despite making less power, because of the delay cause by the shift, try and time your shifts to avoid doing this.

Yes, the longer you leave it in a gear, and the harder you press the accelerator, when accelerating toward the redline, the faster you will get to your desired cruising speed. It won't significantly reduce the life of the engine or car if you only do it occasionally. It was a good idea to leave it until the car was run in, too. You seem to be doing well for never having been told this, congratulations.

Okay, I paintings third shift now and feature plenty ago. It's now not effortless to get used to. A very long time in the past while I labored 3rds I had plenty of insomnia disorders. I'd most effective get like two or three hours of sleep an afternoon. But sure, you ought to modify your slumbering time table. That's now not effortless to start with. Best technique to get your self knocked out after paintings (and that is surely simply my opinion) and sleep directly by way of the day is to put money into a few normal smoking herbs like Spice Gold. It's completely authorized and normal and it soothes your frame so it will possibly relaxation conveniently. If you do not desire to smoke some thing, I propose movement ailment drugs. You can take like two or three and in part an hour you are going to be knocked out. Or if you understand of any ways that rests your frame conveniently, use them plenty so you'll be able to positioned your self to sleep after paintings and sleep for a whole 7 or eight hours. If you hold it up, your frame will modify to these hours and your disorders are solved. :)

It depends on your car. Usually the optimum combo of performance and mileage is around 2000 rpm. Keep the engine between 2000 and 4000 rpm and you will get the best performance. Racing the engine is hard on it and hard on the clutch.
