My friend is telling me all this stuff about breaking in the engine, I've never heard of such a thing. The road trip is about a 3 hour drive. My dad says it will be ok so long as I stop for about 30 minutes somewhere along the way. What should I do?

The other day I side-swiped a mailbox and it broke the passenger side mirror cleanly off the car (2000 Chevy Cavalier). It left a spring about a foot long dangling off the car, which I assume was what anchored the mirror to the car.

Everything on the mirror is fine-luckily it didn't break the glass or anything.

How can I re-attach the spring inside the mirror and then put it back on the car?

My torque wrench does not read in "in-lbs". What for example is 150 in-lbs in foot pounds? My stablizer bar link nut torque spec is said to be 150 in-lbs. Why is it necessary to quote torque specs in both inch and foot lbs? How do I convert one to the other. Thanks much in advance. Jim Confused

I got a little confused last time we rented a car at Enterprise. At the end right before you take off with your car, they throw in this "now what type of insurance do you want?" I asked, if it was mandatory and he mumbled something like, "well if something happens then your own insurance would pick it up". Huh???? What does that mean? I was anxious to leave, so I just told him to sign me up for the cheapest and didn't ask any questions.

My question is, when renting a car, is it MANDATORY that you get the extra insurance with it?

I have been driving since 1996 and have never had any trouble with the courts. I passed my advanced driving test in 2000, and like to think I am a good driver. I am not certain the police have this right, so can I contest this, and win? Seems unfair when my car was scratched, the police knew it, and did nothing, also the company never paid for the car to be fixed up. Guess I am just p*ssed off. Help !!

It seems that there were sufficients write ups on the deterioration of this bridge & also many others in the US?

Don't you think this should be a top priority?

Also, don't you think evaluations on our bridges, etc... should be made known to the public always, so the people would be warned of the risk they take when going over these bridges, etc...?

The car has the option of being put into a manual transmission mode and paddle shifted, but I'm ususally in automatic mode. Will this help my brakes last longer? Use less fuel? Put less strain on my engine while idleing? Cause more wear on my transmission? How about when in stop and go traffic? Or am I waisting my time? Saturn Aura 3.6L VVT.

Some gasoline I have has been contaminated by something. I can smell that there is gasonline in that can but it pours out murky and won't fire up the lawnmower. I was thinking about letting it settle and then pump off the clear stuff on the top. What do you think? I am thinking if I pour it into a filter the scum will just plug up the filter. It is pretty thick.

1996 Chrysler Town & country with 2.8 V6-214,000 miles.
It starts right up and runs for few minutes (2 to 30 minutes). It also drives nice and smooth. Snap on scanner said no codes-ok to drive. At idle or in motion everything dies. No lights on a dash and by switching the key off and back on it would start with no hesitation.
I checked:
- Fuel pressure
- Vacuum system
- Wires and fuses
- Air filter
- Unhooked the hitch wiring harness
- Added extra grounds
- Put clean gas with injector cleaner
- tried different ECM
I replaced:
- Fuel filter
- Ignition switch
- Radio
- Crankshaft sensor
- Spark plugs and wires
What could the problem be?

I replaced the radiator fan then two weeks later I had the freon evaced and refilled but the car still won't blow that cold of air. The compressor is only a couple years old. They said there was a blockage in the freon line but it shouldn't hurt any. What else could be causing the AC not to get cold?
