1996 Chrysler Town & country with 2.8 V6-214,000 miles.
It starts right up and runs for few minutes (2 to 30 minutes). It also drives nice and smooth. Snap on scanner said no codes-ok to drive. At idle or in motion everything dies. No lights on a dash and by switching the key off and back on it would start with no hesitation.
I checked:
- Fuel pressure
- Vacuum system
- Wires and fuses
- Air filter
- Unhooked the hitch wiring harness
- Added extra grounds
- Put clean gas with injector cleaner
- tried different ECM
I replaced:
- Fuel filter
- Ignition switch
- Radio
- Crankshaft sensor
- Spark plugs and wires
What could the problem be?

is equipped with a factory theft deterrent, i've seen intermittent faults with those systems, they will cut fuel, then fire up and run fine, does the oil pressure switch signal the fuel pump? some times oil pressure switches control the fuel pump and they can go crazy

Verify the electrical connections on the underside of the underhood power distribution box.An intermittent fault will cause similar symptoms.I saw this happen when the main 12 volt lead to the box from the battery wasn't torqued down tight enough at the box.

Sounds as though it's an electrical problem. When you place the trans in drive, the engine torques a bit, slightly moving the wire harness, & breaking the connection.

Maybe a fault in the crash sensor. Sensor that shuts off the fuel pump and power in an accident.

Check the battery cables for corrosion, I have a 96 Grand Voyager(same vehicle, bigger engine) and the cables and terminals corrode way too easy.
