My friend is telling me all this stuff about breaking in the engine, I've never heard of such a thing. The road trip is about a 3 hour drive. My dad says it will be ok so long as I stop for about 30 minutes somewhere along the way. What should I do?

A three hour drive is not a real problem. It is a good idea to vary your speed and engine RPM som on the trip. If you can get off the highway for a bit, and take a local road, that would be good. Avoid heavy acceleration if possible (a good idae with old engines too) You do not need to stop for 30 minutes, just change your speed!

With the new cars today, you do not neet to baby them and break them in, like you did before!. Just drive the car gently, and enjoy your trip!

Breaking in the engine has nothing to do with how far you drive. Usually you need to stay within a certain RPM range for a little while, stay under a certain speed, and shift between gears a lot to break in the tranny. Basically you are trying to seat the piston rings right. You usually have to change the oil pretty often too, like every 50 miles for the first couple hundred. Usually new car don't need to be broken in, though. Call the dealership and ask them about it. They will tell you if it is a good idea or not.

Then hire a mechanic and have him check out the vehicle dazzling to backside and provide you a record on his assessment. Engines would properly be rebuilt and adjusted. So can each little thing else. physique venture is what concerns. Is it a rust bucket or no longer? you will desire to purchase the vehicle and take it abode and park it interior the front room for 4 years and not tension it in any respect. then you definately get your 5 years out of it. notwithstanding, 30,000 miles a twelve months feels like plenty. I frequently parent with 10 to 13,000 a twelve months as a undemanding average. something extra then that's owned by ability of a vacationing salesman.(or the odometer is broken) the style you tension concerns too. (i will ruin a 2011(any make any kind) in an afternoon if i opt for to. automobiles are no longer fool data.

As long as you stay under 65 mph and drive steady.
ou should be ok. Most engines these days are pre broke in.
In the Ol Days back in the 50-60 era engine break in was a big thing but no anymore.

when are you going on this roadtrip? I'd listen more to your dad than your friend and also consult the owners manual to see what that says. I think the 'breaking in period" may even possibly obsolete with newer cars these days.
