I have been driving since 1996 and have never had any trouble with the courts. I passed my advanced driving test in 2000, and like to think I am a good driver. I am not certain the police have this right, so can I contest this, and win? Seems unfair when my car was scratched, the police knew it, and did nothing, also the company never paid for the car to be fixed up. Guess I am just p*ssed off. Help !!

Astis - it's people like you that bring many of the good Yahoo Answers people down - keep such infantile thoughts to yourself. As to why you have'nt got a company car - maybe you can figure that out for your self

Your company has a right to know how its cars are being driven. You probably don't have much of a case.
On another note, what cop tickets somebody for going 9 over?! Usually anything under 10 is fair game.

the quetion does not make sense but if you mean you have been clocked doing 39 in a 30 it will be a waste of time contesting the fine just pay it and take the points.
You say you are a advanced driver you really should know what to do in a case like this. And I thought you could not take your advanced driving test until you had been driving longer than four years. do you actually mean the "plus scheme" where you take another test for the sake of getting cheaper insurance pass plus I think its called

I'd guess you've been caught by a camera. The police will contact the registered keeper of a company vehicle to establish who was driving, how else will they know who to "do"? Perfectly legal and of course they have the right!
You're quite within your rights to challenge it court, but just be aware that if you are found guilty it's likely to cost you a lot more than £60 + 3 points.

In the event of a company-owned vehicle being caught speeding, the police are required to inform the registered owner - in this case, your boss.
He then has a legal obligation to inform the police who was driving the vehicle at the time of the alleged offence - in this case, you.
I have no idea what relevance a scratch has, though...

I can't believe a person of your poor intelligence can actually hold a position where they have the benefit of a company car. Where am I going wrong?
