Some gasoline I have has been contaminated by something. I can smell that there is gasonline in that can but it pours out murky and won't fire up the lawnmower. I was thinking about letting it settle and then pump off the clear stuff on the top. What do you think? I am thinking if I pour it into a filter the scum will just plug up the filter. It is pretty thick.

The fuel has gone bad. It must smell putrid. Don't pour in ANY engine. Properly dispose of it & buy new. If you must store it, then mix in fuel stabilizer.
