I think my carb is getting too much fuel, do I need a pressure damper?

I got a universal pump and just hooked it up to the carb and ignition.

the thing just would not start. It clicks when I go to start it, but nothings happening, the radio comes on?! I lifted the bonnet and it was VERY hot considering I haven't been out much today. Though it was hot today wasn't it? Well, I had to get a push to get home and luckily it started, but I was in unknown territory so naturally by sods law I go down one of the longest dead ends with clumps of tarmac missing joke of a road you will find of a sunday night and have to come back again. To add to my horror, the temperature thingy on the dash was hitting the red! I thought it was either going to explode or just conk out on me at the lights somewhere. Thankfully, I made it back in time for corrie, or so I thought anyway, but now the thing is stuck diagonally parked on the drive in front of a bl**dy skip. Any help will be appreciated.

hi this is a 1982 yamaha xt200j and had been recently restored..we finally got it running...most of the time. well, here we go., to get it running the first time i have to rev the throttle a little bit and kick. if that doesnt work then i put a little gas in it and then do that again...that usually gets it running. (all with the choke on). Then, once it is running i have to rev the throttle or else it will die(this part< is with the choke pushed in after running.) then as soon as i put it in gear (clutch in) it starts to die so i have to almost pop the clutch to get it going...then when i slow down from about third gear to stop..(with the clutch in) it dies........after getting it started again i was coming back home going along merrily at a steady speed (30) when,......the revs just slowly went RRRRRrrrrrr.....(down).and died. i am dumbfounded about that one but non the less..oh and i do have seafoam running through the tank currently. all help appreciated.

I recently read an article detailing how to get diagnostic codes from just a jumper wire. I used a piece of wire, put one end on the ground at the diagnostic terminal, then the other end on the diagnostic pin...nothing happened. Is there another way of doing this and is it true that you can check OBD at home? I have also heard that once the ground is connected, touch the other end to all terminals and wait for the check engine light to come on. Is there any way to "short" out the ECU or otherwise cause damage doing this? Thanks

i have a 2000 dodge dakota R/T and i got a little crazy spinning the tires/doing a donut and nailed a curb with the driver side rear tire and sheared the axle shaft off right at the end of the axle housing where my drum brake is, i didnt notice my wheel was not on my vehicle until i tried to pull away and nothing happened i couldnt move or anything, ive read if you have a 2wd vehicle and break one of the axles the car will not move at all,i was wondering if this is true because i kinda thought the wheel that was still attached would spin still, i was wondering if i damaged something else like the transmission or something in the drivetrain or if it is true that if you break an axle on one side the other side wont turn either, i kinda thought that since it just sheared off at the end of the housing that the remaining visible axle would spin and so would the other tire. thanks alot for any info you could give me
P.S.- i had it towed and its in the shop now getting an estimate

I went car shopping this weekend. On the Hybrid cars the mpg rating for the highway driving is worse than city. This is complete opposite from gasoline cars that get better on the highway. I don't get it?

Not hot enough for gage to be in danger zone not even close. Added antifreeze after it cooled down. Still won't start. Replaced plugs and wires, Dist cap, fuel filter. Pump running, It wants to start. It's firing but it's not getting any gas. Injectors? Timing? Someone mentioned a fuel pressure regulator. Where is it? Can anyone please help? I can't afford to keep replacing parts or get a mechanic. I'm pretty mechanically inclined but I'm stymied by this one. The car was maintained exellently. The guy had all the paperwork on every thing he ever did. He fixed everything. The tranny is strong, the motor purrs. I got an exellent deal. This man put new tires on it before he would sell it to me!!! The sticker price is still in the glove box. I know it's a good car. Please help.

I have a 95 Mustang and the rear calipers are the type that the piston needs to be screwed back in. The piston is too far out of the caliper and when I try to screw it back in, it's not 'catching'. Does it need to be pushed in a certain amount first? It's a new caliper (year old) and I'd hate to buy another new one. Any suggestions?

I am using an old Ford probe 1995. When I turn the steering wheel sometimes it feels hard to turn but it is power steering. It has power steering fluid also so I am not sure if it is the power steering pressure hose or is it with the wheel.
