Without additional information of the color of the smoke or where it's coming from, it's hard to say.
Did you recently change brands of oil? Sometimes that'll make it suddenly consume oil and smoke. Blue smoke out the pipe, oil. White, gas.

What colour is the smoke?
White/blue smoke = Burning Oil (Engine Problem)
Black Smoke = Injector/air problem or oil pressure.
Get a mobile diagnostic test to determine the problem, a specialist will come out and run tests on the engine, cost about 30-45 quid.
