So here is the the story, I'm 18, right out of high school and I need a car. I've been working for about 5 months part time at my job where I get paid about 400 every two weeks (give or take)

My question is, should I get a new car, or a used car from a dealer? I have 2,500 dollars to put as a down payment, and I want to get my monthly payments as close to 150-175 as I can.

What is some good advice?

BTW

The two new cars I was intrested in where the toyota yaris, and scion xA. both roughly cost 14000

Can you recommend a car to me please?
I want a safe one that's reliable and drives smoothly. Not an SUV.
Oh, and I want a cool looking car, nothing too boring.

I was thinking Mazda 3? It's decent.
Ford Mustang? Hm. I really don't know.
Yeah. Thanks a lotttt.

I'm not familiar with Ford Brakes. I just replaced the rear shoes & drums. The adjusting quadrant on both sides was pretty crusted over. They didn't move freely. I was able to free them up and they work fine. Also, the parking brake lever doesn't move - frozen somewhere. The park brake light was on initially but went off after a few seconds. When driving it sounds like the shoes are scraping the drum. I know they're supposed to touch, but should they scrape? Is the adjusting off somehow? I pushed that little curved/toothed tab all the way back when installing drum.

My neightbor gave me one of his old car's, that he hadn't driven in about 3-4months, its a toyota camry 1990, has a little over 140,000 miles on it, and its kinda rusty, its going to need minimal brake work, and for my first car, its perfect, no need to worry about putting the best gas, or having the best insurense, but what i dont know is, if its worth it, hes giving it to me for free, so im not going to complain, but does anyone have any tips for the rust, without making it pricy, and what do you think about the deal, is it worth it, it looks pretty shitty on the outside, but the inside's perfect, so please any advice, or opinons keep um coming, i dont know what to do

I'm not sure why this is happening, but it's the same dinging sounds as the car makes when you first start it. I just had the car serviced and it's leaking oil pretty badly now. Anyway, I'm wondering if the sounds it's making is related to a low oil warning or what it could mean?

My t-bird used to run good every once and a while. But now more often it starts and idles rough and when I push the gas pedal it has no power, top speed of 10-20 mph. It just bogs down and sputters. The check engine light is on and goes off and on at random. It has done this for a number of years and the Ford dealership had no answers. No codes in the box either. Any help would be great.

My car started by itself. I don't know why. I don't have a remote starter. How can this be? I have a 94 Lincoln Town car. I think it could possibly be the computer in the car. The mechanic said it wasn't the starter, although I got a new one today. The car started all byitself and no one was'nt anywhere near the car because I live in the Country and my neighbors live far away. Help?

my ignition will not turn it is stuck in lock position. i have already experienced the key getting stuck and not releasing, that was a transmission relay. its been fixed this is not the same deal. this time the ignition just will not turn and the steering wheel is locked as well as the igniton. i need to start the car. what do i do for a temporary fix? without hot wiring? i thought about crossing the starter to get it to start. if i do this will the steering wheel unlock? or will i be stuck with a running car that wont move? also i am not sure where the starter is if it will work.

Iwanted to buy a new car, but i noticed the new model had rearwheel discbrakes. Having had a bad experience with this type of brake on a previous car i wonder if it really makes sense to choose a car with this kind of brakes.

I have a 1995 Buick LeSabre, 3.8 V6 with a 4T60E Automatic Trans. Having problems with it getting stuck in 2nd gear, Aamco says I need to have it rebuilt, their estimate ranges from $1400.00-$2400.00. $1400.00 for the rebuild kit & labor! Price goes up if there is internal damage (which they said there probaly was). Am I getting scammed??
