I have a 1995 Buick LeSabre, 3.8 V6 with a 4T60E Automatic Trans. Having problems with it getting stuck in 2nd gear, Aamco says I need to have it rebuilt, their estimate ranges from $1400.00-$2400.00. $1400.00 for the rebuild kit & labor! Price goes up if there is internal damage (which they said there probaly was). Am I getting scammed??

the car is not worth much more than the repair bill. have you had the fluid and filter changed in the transmission? i had a lesaber and it was sluggish shifting so i had the done and it worked perfect. they need to be serviced every twenty thousand miles. i think i would not have the transmission rebuilt because the car is not worth the repair bill.

Find a used unit with lowest miles on it , and have a shop install it. Cheapest route to take Rebuilding 4T60-E would cost on a average close to $1400.00 .

First try fluid and filter change. Do not got to amaco rip off. Buy a jasper transmission and have a mechanic put it in. jasper.com
A paid for car is worth a new transmission. Buy jap. next time.
