I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla CE with an automated transmission. If I pressure it quite puzzling the worst gas mileage i'm getting is 32 mpg. the optimal i have gotten thus far became 40mpg in a mixture of seventy 5% city/25% street utilising. To get that 40mpg i became hypermiling without doing something unlawful or quite risky (like drafting semi autos). On typical although my gas mileage is often 36mpg. The hypermiling I did... No speed above fifty 5 mph. Manually cycle the A/C. go away it off till i could not take it anymore then turn it decrease back on for 5 - 10 min. Coast right down to pink lights to make a eco-friendly. Racing to a pink mild (as many drivers do) is unnecessary and wastes gas. No quick acceleration. Coast right down to stop indicators attempting to time it so i'm next. If not a minimum of i did not ought to attend diverse turns to be first in my lane. With iciness drawing near i will attempt yet another round of hypermiling and be conscious if i visit get more effective perfect than 40mpg. :)

I've heard that during the "break in" period, the mileage can be worse than it would be afterward. Also, I've read the mileage # 's provided by the car markers are inflated, by as much as 30% because they are figures that come from the equivalent of a car being driven on a treadmill, and not from actual driving conditions on real roads. Perhaps a return to the dealer is in order, and they can do an analysis of the engine.

Well, corollas are known to get great mileage. I don't currently own a toyota, but 2006 toyotas are really smart, and should illuminate the CHECK ENGINE or SERVICE ENGINE light if any driveability or fuel consumption problems are noted. It's still under factory warranty, you'd be welcomed at any toyota dealership. Before you attempt that, try to track your mileage a little, just to be better informed. I have worked on cars for many years, and often recommend toyotas for their reliability and fuel economy. If you believe youre fuel economy is awful, a trip to a local toyota dealeship would be well advised. good luck. wish I could be of more help.

Look up tips on how to properly drive it. You have to drive a certain way to get the miles they are stating it will. You looks alot of gas in your take off from lights. You can't just punch it and take off. You have to act as if there is an egg under the pedal.

Re-set your ECU by disconnecting your negative terminal of the battery for about 30secs.
Drive and make sure your rev doesn't go above 3000rpm for a week and see how the gas mileage goes.
