I wouldn't bother, it's a heavy car.

yes and no
i would pull the body off the frame of a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck and do it though the frames are stronger than on the lincoln
if you end up doing it have a cage built or learn to weld as though your life is counting on it, becouse you will need it. for the seat it will have to be in the middle of the frame over the driveshaft for safty you need something covering the tranny and the driveshaft incase there tranny blows apart or a bad u- joint and i have seen it then blow apart and cut work boots apart with the floor boards in the cars. as for steering, you will need to relocate it to the middle, run a shaft out of the gear box with a slider and u- joints to the cage, then a chain like a motercycle has (and sprockets connecting) to the middle with a shaft and quick realese steering wheel
as for brakes haha ya i dont give all the answers away

I believe the answer you are looking for is, you can certianly try but throw caution to the wind almost all dune buggies are made of the old 70's VW bugs. That's why you don't see many of them around.

Yes you can and very inexpensively if you do all the work yourself.Biggest cost would be the roll cage.
