Hopefully the exit interview will not be long. I may have to go through one tomorrow. I will not be taking my car because its in the shop;therefore, I will be getting a ride... I would not want my ride to be waiting more than 15 minutes max.

I've only worked there for a month, and I've had a part-time job the whole time, so there isn't any empty time on my resume. I suspect I am going to be fired. I am debating whether I should quit before I get fired. I have been planning on quiting, I have many applications out and I have some interviews scheduled, so it isn't a huge deal if I quit, but I would like to wait until I have another job lined up.

My question is: if I get fired, will it come back to haunt me later? When I am filling out applications will I have to check the box stating that yes, I was discharged from a job?

Im about to graduate highschool and am being pushed towards colleges and careers. I've always dreamt of owning my own business but the thought of failing is always in the back of my mind.

I guess my questions are:

-What major should i get?
-Is it hard?
-How do you get started?

Thank you!

I am wondering specifically how one comes by the certification. Is there a test given by the government? Must one have any amount of on the job experience? That sort of thing.

Thanks.

In order to replace two people who resigned, I must fill out two forms, forward to my boss for approval, she forwards to her boss, & she forwards to VP for approval.

I completed the forms and emailed them to my boss with, "For your approval". My boss read it but never approved them (she just forgot I guess). This was in mid August.

Her boss now asks her whats the hold up. She, in turn, asks me why hadn't I started the process. I told her (my direct boss) that I did and re-sent her the original emails as proof.

She now wants me to start new forms before she approves and forwards to her boss. (She's trying to hide from her boss that she dropped the ball. She wants her boss to think that it was me who dropped the ball.). I re-emailed the original emails twice and she refuses to use the original forms. Gave me direct/clear order to re-do the forms. I'm tired of taking the blame for her screw ups. Pls offer suggestions.

Okay here is the company lineup...two brothers who own the place and two office workers...me - been here 4 years and another girl - been here 12 years. We spend all day in an office alone together. She is constantly calling me stupid and yelling at me in completely unprofessional ways. I addressed this with my boss once already and it stopped temporarily but now she is doing it again. Today she belittled me to where I was almost in tears. How do I again bring this up to my boss without it sounding like we are just two females having a cat fight?

I wanted to study computer science, emphasizing in networking. I had already completed my GE, and was transferring out. The admissions and course advisors steered me down the path towards a degree in that field. Right before graduation did I find out from classmates that this degree is for people already working in the field looking to get into management positions. I've tried making up for my lack of knowledge and experience by applying for basic IT jobs, but it's just not working. So, I've decided to go back to school and fill in the holes. A coworker said that I could sue the school from which I graduated for misinforming me. Can I really do this?

I have been at my job for about a month and I hate it! (I have to do more traveling than I expected and I don't like the field of work I am doing). I'd like to find a new job in a totally different line of work.

I got a message from my supervisor that she needs to meet with me to discuss some things. I think there is a chance she could be firing me.

I applied at like 10 different place so far and listed my current job but always checked the "do not contact current employer" box. Maybe someone called her anyways?

I was planning on giving my 2 weeks notice as soon as I found a new job. But if I meet with her and it sounds like she is going to fire me right away, should I quit first? In that case should I give 2 weeks notice or can I just leave right away?

The reason I am asking is because I have 1 suit!.....LOL

Avoiding looking like an idiot and wearing the same suit, I am considering going in with a shirt and tie.

Is this acceptable?

Thanks.

as a Help Desk analyst. I have been in a complete different field for many years. I have my MCP and will hopefully be obtaining my MCSA and MCSE within maybe a few months. What should I expect to learn within this position? After maybe a year or two I plan on exploring my options because the company I joined does not have much room for advancement but I took the job to get my foot into the IT industry. It pays well and has great benefits. Is it fair to say that with the right training and experience I can possibly try to get a job as a systems administrator or a related position. Any advice will be great. Thanks in advance.

I'm 21 years old. I run a hair saloon & have 5 employees. It has been a year. I find it lately my employees show disrespectness like, talking back to you in a rude way, many non-sense / unnecessary complains, lazy, refuse to do what you told them to, etc.
I'm thinking not to keep them anymore, but there won't be subs asap. There're 2 of them who have probs, one of them has a good skill.
I've tried to call for a meeting, in a middle of conversation they always have something to defense. In fact one of them show a very bad performance & not productive.
I've tried to give chance. But they prefer being lazy than practice.
Is this only a seasonal problem? Since this month has less customers than usual. Is that the right reason for them to not well-behaved? or...
Is this a common problem in business?
How to manage them? I see warning is useless.
or it's me too young for them?
probably they think they are in need.
how to show them that they aren't as important as they think?

My school schedule is fixed so I can't skip class to work. I can work 20 hours a week, which you'd think was great for an employer but it's the exact hours that aren't so great. Evenings I work at a job which pertains to my degree and gaining enough hours to be qualified by the state. However, I'm starting to think I should quit that job because I would be free evenings. I also have another job where I work 3 hours a week (one day) that also pertains to my degree and gaining the state qualification hours, but I want to quit that because it's holding me back.

I really enjoy the jobs that I have right now, but I feel like the hours I put towards them are holding me back from getting a job that would pay more and have more consistency. But at the same time, they pertain to what I want to do after grad next year.

Is it realistic for me to find a "degree" job even though I have yet to graduate? What should I do? I can't find a decent job to pay the bills and it's frustrating.

I'm female... just in case you were going to give a funny answer!

I'm 37 and applying for jobs (in law offices) after having 2 years off for my family. I haven't had a proper job interview since I was in my early 20s and, although very confident of my skills, I'm completely petrified of making myself look a fool in the interview.

I normally never wear skirts, and wondered if it would look unprofessional to wear a smart trouser suit to an interview.

A sensible answer to this would remove one small worry!

If you need experience being a manager in order to get a job as a manager or assistant manager, how do you get that experience in the first place?

It seems like all of the job descriptions I have seen for managers and assistant managers require past management experience. How do you get that management experience in the first place if you can't get a job management job without experience? Where do you have to start?

I would like to be a manager or assistant manager of a retail store.

Union Job Security Question.?

I was hired as a high value clerk for UPS 5 weeks ago. I was hired because someone was out on workers comp and they needed a replacement. From what I have been told the person is returning in 6 weeks and I would be move to an unload position, which is 5-6 hours LESS per week, and .50-.75 less an hour. This is a total downgrade and I love the position I am doing now. How can I protect myself. I am currently paying my union dues.

I work for an office which employs approx. 25 people. There are no sick days or personal days, only a week (5 days) of vacation. If we are sick or need a day off, we have to use one of our 5 vacation days.
If we do not have any vacation days left, you dont have the option of not being paid, since they say the company medical play requires you to work a 40 hour week. Only option is to make up the hours before the next pay period or else lose your FT status and medical coverage.
We do have off for major holidays, but never like the day after Christmas or New Years Eve or anything (unless they're on a weekend of course).
There is no eating allowed at our cubicles, and no cell phones allowed in the building. Also, there are no typical 15 minute breaks, only a 1/2 hour lunch and that's it.
Is this normal or acceptable to you for 35k/yr?

I work for an insurance company. Here are some of the things I do:
-Generate weekly newsletter and email to our subscriber base
-Scan the internet looking for mentions of our company and our competitors
-Oversee our company web site and make changes as needed (not an IT person, though - no formal training)
-Monitor web traffic to our site
-Write emails, create marketing pieces (mostly text) as directed by our company president and my supervisor
-Come up with ideas for new ways to sell our insurance products
-Attend trade shows and mingle with people
-A lot of work directly from the company president, such as correspondance to emails he gets.

They never really gave me a title for this job. It started as CSR since I was taking calls initially, but havent for about 18 months now. I want to apply for other jobs but am not sure what to put as job title, as CSR is misleading.

Is this a marketing director? Marketing & Communications director? Internet Marketing Specialist? What else?
