Hopefully the exit interview will not be long. I may have to go through one tomorrow. I will not be taking my car because its in the shop;therefore, I will be getting a ride... I would not want my ride to be waiting more than 15 minutes max.

depends on how things went when you were on the job....sometimes it's just a handshake, sometimes they keep you waiting to show they are still the boss, etc. but usually it's just a "goodbye and goodluck" and they might ask if you have another job you're going to. If you have not asked for their reference, not secured a letter from them, then this is the time to ask. Sometimes they ask what you want on there, you tell them....sometimes they will have you type it up themselves and then they will sign it.

Generally there is a few standard questions asked.
1. Why are you leaving?
2. Were you treated fairly at this place of employment?
3. How would you improve this company if you could?
4. Where are you going?
These could open up follow up questions.
The interview could be from 5 to 30 minutes depending on responses and concerns.

You have to tell you ride that you don't know how long it will take - you just tell him to be patient please.

And you can tell the interviewer that your ride has to go to work in 10 minutes - if there's no problem you want to leave early.

exit interviews are a waste of time. they were initially created to receive legitimate feedback on overall working conditions, now they are just part of a corporate human resources bag of tricks. don't waste your time. good luck on your next job.
