I begin my new job on Monday as a paralegal at a medium size (35 people) law firm downtown. The people seem very nice, and said for the first two days they would train me on how to use their computer software and how to answer the phone when a client calls. Any tips on how to make a great impression on these people. This will be my first serious full time job that offers great pay!

I recently went in for an interview with AIG (American International Group) about premier auditing position. They said if I get hired, I would have to go through 3 months of training and start working from home from that point on with company laptop and do a lot of traveling for audit.
I can accept doing a lot of travel for audit. But working from home by myself? I have always been working and wanting to work in company setting with a lot of people.
I am just out of university with business degree and my goal is to become a CPA, and work in public accounting and/or government agencies.
Should I definitely reject this job if I get the job offer? I just have hard time imagining myself working at home instead of office with a group of people.
Thanks in advance for any valuable insights and advice.

Everytime I have a job interview, the interviewer asks me if I have any questions. The first question I always ask is "Why is this position open?" Their answers are uniform, like this "She or he decided to just stay home with his/her family." The job seekers always careful to not lie to them or anything. But, is there posibility that they lie to the job seekers?

Ive been working at a dental office for a week now. I just finished school to be a dental assistant, so I took the first job that seemed half decent. Since idont have expierence this was basically my only choice. Ok now to the problem. The dentist expects his girls to work overtime without getting paid. he thinks he can get away without ot because he puts his girls on salary but i know for a fact by law he still has to pay ot. We were supposed to get paid today but we didnt the dentist said maybe he wil get to them tommorrow. The girls say this is all normal crap. Now Im stuck in a situation. because I cant quit(have a young daughter and have bills to pay). So any advice on how to approch this dentist. I looked online and downloaded overtime law and another law about paying on a specific date, but i dont want to go in there and throwing around legal mummble jumble because like i said i need this job , at least until i get expierence. thanks in advance for your help. :)

I'm applying to jobs at tv stations all over the country. I have lived in some sort of large metropolitan area of at least 200,000 person population my whole life, and I may have to move to a smaller market. Its not that I have anything against smaller cities, but how can I get excited about moving someplace that is a very centralized population and surrounded by nothing but countryland for hundreds of miles?

I've gone through three rounds of interview and now have been asked to come in for a 'lunch' with the team. What does this mean? Just another interview or something more? An offer? Anyone in HR have any idea, please let me know.

Thx!

I filled out an application online for Vector Marketing. Few hours later I got a call and they scheduled me an interview for the next day. It was a little strange that they would schedule me an appoitment right away. So I did some research thanks to YA and found some unpleasant things. Has anyone worked for them? I don't want to go to that interview and waste my time because I don't want that job. Help please. What should I do? Should I go and pretend as if I'm interested or not to go?

Hey guys I just wanted to know if there are any tips to pass those pre-employment personality tests. The tests seem to be looking for someone who is charismatic, outgoing, sociable and likes people. To be honest I am none of these things, but that doesnt mean that i cannot give someone great customer service if thats what the job requires. But unfortunately four jobs have turned me down because my test results have not been so great. I just want to know how to answer the questions so they believe that im the person they are looking for.
Can anyone give me some links that can show me how to pass these employment tests?

I have had 4 meetings. One for the initial contact. Two after interest was shown by the employer. Three after taking a test for the job, (I passed) and four a long interview about the details and responsibilities of the position. An indepth application packet was then sent out of state to corporate headquarters for processing and appoval. That was 3 working days ago. I hate being so close but just don't have it etched in stone, ya know what I mean?

My girlfriend and I have just moved for college. We have an apartment and really want jobs as soon as possible. Being enrolled in mortuary science we applied for a funeral home however she has just gotten hired at Banana Republic as we thought we weren't getting the funeral home job due to delays in responses. Now it's her first day and she's not sure to continue as nothing is going on and quit, to ask them if she can possibly come back and lose the position should things not work out, or what to do? Any proffessional or past experiences could really help her right now.

I've been working since I was 13yrs old. I worked 3 jobs in high school to support my family. I went to college for free but decided to drop out after my first year to pursue my 2nd dream-being salon owner/product line/etc. In 2004 I lost all three jobs, so I decided to go to school. Since then I've got my licenses to work in a salon. I am wanting to go back to school to take some classes for what I want to do. But I need a job first ($$$)...I've had the worst time with work! Employers that don't pay me, etc. Its 2007 and I'm 23 and still have no job (its been a year!) I've always been independent and its killing me! I've applied everywhere! That's all I do M-F. I sometimes get to speak with the hiring manager and I never say anything negative about past employers. I would love to get into a salon-but applied everywhere. I believe a school I transfered from is bad mouthing me. At this point I don't care where I work-I've applied at gas stations, fast food, part time, full time! HELP ME
