Something you are saying in your phone interviews is keeping you from getting any further.

You really need to analyze what you are telling prospective employers. The interviewers are not your friends, nor your priest and they do not need to know your life story.

Go over every answer you give and revamp any that are coming across as negative. Even if the negativity is true you have to come up with something else to say.

Good luck.

If you are getting to the Interview stage then you resume seems to be fine. Perhaps the problem is what you say in the interview.

Some older people have trouble finding work because they rely so much on their past experience, despite the fast changing nature of the world.

That is, your assurance that you can do the job becomes a negative where you begin to sound like you are telling them how to do it.

On the other hand some older people are the opposite, too relaxed and accomodating.

This then combines with the attitude of many employers to older people, making it difficult to find work.

Some tricks to try.

1. Mention that you particularly would like to go to whatever city you are applying for. Don't sound desperate and want a job wherever, sound calm and assured.

2. Cast your net wider. Asia has many good opportunities for people looking for hotel work, often in 5 star hotels (most of the managers are useless idiots, so they take anyone).

3. Learn more about the hotel you are applying for, their attitudes to their hotel and so on.

4. Do interviews with your friends, and get some feedback on how to improve your interview skills.

5. Keep trying, if you can get to the Interview stage you can get a job.

You may consider doing some extra study or qualifications while you keep trying to find a new job.

I don't know but I thought after I got my cetificate from college and had some work experience in mostly childcare and work readiness certificates from a youth employment agency. I thought I would be able to get any jobs within my qualifications really quick, but I was wrong. Heck I still had trouble getting fast food and retail work.
