In the real world you realize that the salaries they tell you about in school are for those who have already worked their way up and have years of experience in the field.

You can't be fresh out of college and make $60K right away. You need experience to make that much money. Keep your current job now and try to climb up the ladder. If you are not going anywhere after at least 3 years at the same job then you should start looking for a better pay job. You should be asking for more money when you are looking for a new job (after 3 years) due to the experience that you've accumulated. That is the real world. Getting a college degree is wonderful, but, having a college degree AND plenty of real world experience is even better.

When you get more experience in the job you probably will be getting paid what you originally thought. You should be happy with the pay you are getting now because it is decent compared to other entry level jobs. Be patient and with a few years of experience you will hopefully earn more.

Sounds like you found it!

You either go back and get a masters degree and try again to get a better job, or go to work for the Patent Office (they will pay for your law degree and you can become a patent attorney).
