A major that leads to a licensed profession is the best bet. Not only does this lead to a high income, but you'll end up with friends who have high incomes. That's where you can get backing for your venture.
If it's not hard, and it's worthwhile, everybody does it. A tall glass of iced tea on a hot summer afternoon? But you make money in business by doing things other people want done, but they either don't want to do it themselves, or they *can't* do it themselves. Brain surgery. Barbecue ribs. Haircuts.
You get started by discovering an unmet or poorly-met need, then figuring out how to get paid for meeting that need. That sounds like a copout, and in a way, it is, but it's exactly how you get started. Look, lots of married couples with young kids want to go out on Friday night, and lots of teenagers want to make money. Set yourself up a matchmaking service so people can find babysitters, and you'll find people are interested. So do you charge couples for being listed, or do you charge the teenagers? How do you rate the parents as being good employers (if Dad paws the babysitter, that's not good) and rate the teenagers as being responsible (if the teen holds a wild party while on the job and lets the kids drink liquor and stay up until 3 AM, that's not good)?
You need to draw up a business plan - not necessarily something to show anybody else, but you have to figure out what needs to be done, and how you're going to do it, and it doesn't have to be on paper, but that helps you see where you are, and what you have to do to get where you're going.
And then, when you figure you're ready, you go out and find your first customer. If there are no customers, there is obviously no business. And from then on, it's like a beginner riding a bike - you keep peddling furiously, and finally, it gets easier and easier, and pretty soon, you can lift your hands off the handlebars, and pedal easily.

I am also wanting to own my own business one day. I would suggest you majoring in Entrepreneurship. That is owning a small business with 500 or less employees. That is what I am majoring in. It can be difficult at times, but with the right amount of motivation plus good study skills you should do fine. What I did is apply to a college that has the major that you decide on and make sure that you meet the requirements. It is easy.
Hope this helps.

My household owns a small plumbing trade. We had been simply getting as much as hiring persons usually for greater jobs, creating a regular 350k+ a 12 months earlier than the economic system crashed. It was once began round 2000. And actually, it is been horrible. Last 12 months we ended within the bad, by way of approximately $20,000 after a role was once no longer paid and our legal professional submit a lien incorrectly on a condo. So no, no longer making a good dwelling any further. I'd say it was once effected negatively by way of the shaky economic system.
