My husband and I are living in the U.S...My husband has an opportunity to take an international assignment in Japan for a year. We've decided to jump at the opportunity and we will be leaving as soon as 3 months from now.

I have just started my career less than a year ago, and I have the chance to keep my job and telecommute from Japan. I am torn about keeping my job or not working while in Japan and pursuing my artistic interests (writing, painting, photography, etc) as well as getting to really experience the culture--maybe even teaching English part time. Will working full time from home in Japan take away from that experience? I realize it is up to me how much I want to "get" from the experience of living in Japan--I just don't know whether the stress of being in another country and working full time will be more than I'd like to handle. If you had the choice, what would you do?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I've been at my job for a little over 2 years, but I definitely want to leave since I don't enjoy it very much.

However, the work I do is very valuable to the company (took me about a year to become really good at it) and there's nobody else "in-house" that could do it since I'm the only person in this department.

Although my starting salary was pretty low for someone in their mid-30s ($11/hr - I was desperate for a job), I'm now making over $18/hr in just 2 years. But it's still nowhere near what I really want to make or feel I deserve. Plus, like I said,
I really don't enjoy the job.

My concern is that if I leave, it will really upset my boss and I might not get a good recommendation, plus it would set the company back since it would take them a while to train somebody else to do my job. Alot of people would say "who cares", I know. But I feel bad.

If I get another job, what's the best way to quit my current job while causing the least amount of damage?

I am working a 40 hour week, but there is only about 20+ hours of work to do while I am here. Anything I can do that will pass the time? My boss wants me here to answer the phones, customers, etc. so they are OK with me doing whatever I can to pass the time while on the clock.

Please no joking answers either. Right now, I read, do crossword puzzles, lurk on YA and surf the internet, and clean my office. But these are getting old and boring. I am not a very crafty person so needlepoint and such doesnt interest me.

Thanks!

I'm going to apply for a store position at Fred Meyers, Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, Old Navy, etc. Some of these places require a resume, but what do I put on it? I already have a resume that is specific for a tech job, which shows relavent courses I've taken and awards that I've received.

But now that I'm applying for a job at some clothes stores, I don't know what to put on my resume.

Please tell me what type of stuff I need to write!

I just graduated from college with a degree in CS,,, however I am not very good with all the technical / programming stuff, so for now I just want a general office job... like data entry
just some entry level job in the field. I have no previous job experience.

I do not want to end up in a blue-collar staffing agency, they will send me to some construction or warehouse work as they once did.

That's why I want to know any names or what should I type in the search box to look for staffing agencies that will send me to the type of job I want. Thanks.

1)Do you any good recognized national names?
2) what should I type in search engines to find the agencies I'm looking for.

My daughter is only working there up until Xmas, for extra cash etc for Xmas Pressies. She is to be paid monthly, but now told the 1 week trial is without any pay? It is hard work, on your feet and I think 'unlawful' to expect FREE LABOUR.

HI, I would like to know weather a copy of our college degree diploma is needed or required when applying to jobs.

I just graduated from college and don't know if this is necessary. Or do they just have some kind of database where they can check this (degree completion)?

Is it a good idea, to have a copy in hand? and what else do you recommend having when applying for jobs. A transcript of all courses? Is it necessary? since my doesn't look very good in the last 2 semesters I really don't want to show it.

I appreciate your help. Thanks.

ok i'm going to try to make this simple....

a vendor just told me that the owner told HIM that i was the reason his bill was paid 3 months late.
HOWEVER, that is NOT the truth. the truth is that the owner had it in his desk for 3 months after i asked him what order it went to....he never gave it back to me and i don't know whether to beleive this vendor or not or whether to ask my boss about this....

the biggest problem is that i can see my boss telling him that....blaming it on me....i won't stand for that!!!!

what would you do???

p.s. i'm leaving this job in december....
maybe i should just let it go???

£58-a-week JSA is all well and good but an extra £27 per week would be just the job.
Trouble is, to meet the threshold required for Incapacity Benefit (and receive my extra dough) i need to prove i am "unsuitable" for work. Any suggestions ? All feasible excuses will be duly considered.

My position has vastly changed over the past 10 years with added responsibilities and technology knowledge needed to carry out the position. How do I write a letter to HR requesting a position title change and salary upgrade? What things should I include in the letter to justify this? My Job Description was written in the 80's.

I was hired in as a temp along with a another. We're both pretty young (early 20's) and lately the other temp has been screwing up a lot (turning in reports done wrong). When the reports come back wrong she tells management she didn't do them and management comes to me and I get reprimanded. She also defaced and wrote grafitti on some of the pictures that are hanging up in our office while I was on lunch break. When I came back from lunch she left for hers and management came into the office and I got a huge reprimand for it even though I tried to explain that I had no idea what was going on. One of the VP's has been hinting around lately that at the end of our temp work they're going to hire me on permanently, but I'm afraid these little problems that the other temp is causing are going to persuade the VP not to hire me at all. My question is should I pre-emptively approach my boss about these issues or not bring any attention to it at all?

I am a Computer operator our company has no job for us that is why maybe they put me to a clerical position, which is not my position. it is hard for me to take this but I think some of the employee is thinking layoff in the near future. So if I refuse to do this clerical work do they have a right to terminate me.

I work in retail.vI have been at my job for 3 years and I love it! I love my boss! he's such a great guy! But recently there was this manager hired and for whatever reason, he hates me. He's cursed at me. He yells at me in front of people. And when there's no one around he tries to be all buddy buddy & touch me and stuff. Nothing sexual, I don't think, but he pokes me and tries to joke around. I never told the guy off because my boss was on vac and I wanted to talk it over with him. A long story short I ended up writing a letter to my boss and leaving it in his office. This is the first complaint I have ever made on a manager! Now the manager knows someone has a complaint but he doesn't know who. I have to be interviewed 2morrow and he's definitely going to know it was me bc he has to be interviewed too. Any advice for the interview? I have no clue what to expect and I am sooo nervous. My boss says relax but I cant help but feel uneasy. Any advice on what to expect or to calm me down?

At my current job, most of the employees are part-time workers, and they try to schedule us to under 30 hours for the week. A lot of times we are called in for additional hours which sometimes puts us over 40 hours for the week. However, instead of logging in (via company intranet) they have us fill out "mis-punch" forms for the additional hours. They do this to avoid paying us anything additional to our normal pay if we surpass 40 hours for the work week. Is this legal? This is a huge corporation, although Im not sure if the whole company condones this or if just the store I work in does so. If this is illegal, what actions can I take or who, outside of the company, should I speak to? Is there anyway to get any pay from the past weeks that I worked over 40 hours?
Thanks, and if your an employment lawyer please let me know when responding.
