HI, I would like to know weather a copy of our college degree diploma is needed or required when applying to jobs.

I just graduated from college and don't know if this is necessary. Or do they just have some kind of database where they can check this (degree completion)?

Is it a good idea, to have a copy in hand? and what else do you recommend having when applying for jobs. A transcript of all courses? Is it necessary? since my doesn't look very good in the last 2 semesters I really don't want to show it.

I appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi!

You certainly do not need a copy of your college diploma. Some companies will request a copy of your transcript. However if they do they will want you to have an official copy sent from the school rather than a copy that you provide.

The important thing you need for applying for jobs is a basic resume. On that you can list your overall GPA is it isn't too bad or highlight some college activities or courses you took.

Good luck with the search!

keep a few copies of your diploma on hand, but only give them if you are asked for them. I don't think my husband had to show his diploma for his first job out of college. But I could be wrong about that. And very very few people would ask for your transcript or a list of courses. That would only be required in a very specialized field.

Good luck.

Probably not. I have never been asked to show my diploma. But some employers will want a transcript. I have been asked for that. But they usually want it mailed directly to them from the school, so you having one in hand will do no good.

I've never been asked for one. In my experience, if they really need to know they'll call the school and verify that you graduated. A pretty piece of paper can very easily be replicated, and a diploma is really just a show piece.

Some employers want a copy, others don't. I always keep a few copies on hand just in case.

It's best to carry a copy of your transcripts as well as the certificate. That's just because of a**holes that falsify certificates to get jobs they aren't qualified for and then employers like me that have to fire them and spend more time looking for the "real deal". -I wish you good hunting.
