I have interviews with two companies. Company A is interviewing tomorrow, and I may get an offer from them fairly soon. I'm fairly certain I will get an offer from them. Company B, however, has an on-site interview really far away from where I live, but it's in 1.5 weeks. I REALLY want to work for Company B. Company A is also a good company to work for, but it has more minuses than working for Company B. What happens if I get an offer from Company A? Do I stall? If so, how do I stall? Any other suggestions of what I could do?

This may have occurred in my case.

I was working for an Attorney up until a month ago. He sacked me, and said that one reason was that he didn't need a fourth body in the office (twas a small practice). Hark- I called him today, and this chick who is apparently new there answered the phone.

Now, either he sacked one of the other employees and supplanted them with this new girl...or he blatantly lied to me. He also said that he couldn't afford to pay a staff of four- and, again, if he hired this new chick, he was lying to me.

On the other hand, if he sacked one of the other girls, and brought in this new girl to replace her, he may not have been lying to me. Maybe he lied to spare me from the truth about his reasons for firing me. I don't know.

It's quite hard to say, I know- but what is your opinion? Do you think he was lying to me then?

Crap. No wonder people hate lawyers. I guess they really are liars for hire. *Hocks up loogey to discharge upon any lawyers nearby

My job has added duties to my busy schedule already and they just laid off another employee and I have to do his job now too. I'm not even through training for the last job they added. If I refuse to take these added responsibilities and they decide to fire me, can I still get unemployment benefits?

The worst job I ever had was working as a cashier at the McDonalds at a mall. It was a zoo! People coming at you all the time non-stop, and there's always several crazy people that scare you who caome every day: Like the guy who's totally obsessed with luck and is covered with lucky tattoos and amulets, who orders the same thing everyday unless you already know what he'll order then he'll change his mind. Or there was a little old lady (possibly from Ukraine) who wears a weird hat, speaks in very broken, heavily accented english, and can't decided if she wants her fries salted or not or what size. I've always been a little shy, and having people with odd dispositions didn't help my confidence. Fortunaly I've had better jobs since.

How about you? What was your worst, why?

My mother in-law is friends with a lady who owns 2 upscale daycares (they are actually called "performing arts centers"). She talked with the lady about hiring me, and let her know that I was still working on my BA in Early Childhood Education.

The lady said to come in and fill out an application. I called back 3 days after I put in my application, an was told she was on vacation. So, a week later she calls and tells me she has to check which shifts are available, asked about my schooling, and tells me she'll talk over the pay rate with me as well, and possible tuition being payed by them.

Well, she didn't call back (that was Friday), so I called today (Tues). She is on vacation again, but the other lady in charge of hiring will be in soon and she'll call me. I am going to call in about 10 minutes to check again. Am I overdoing it on calling back, or should I just look for something else?

I was told they are busy opening another daycare, and that is why everyone is so busy.

We were told yesterday that a boss from downtown was coming over today -- he didn't say why. Well, he was supposed to show up two hours ago and he hasn't. Instead, a couple of people from HR are conducting some kind of one-on-one interviews in the back room. The one guy I've talked to said he can't talk about whatever it was they discussed, so apparently this is something other than an ordinary evaluation.

I'm so anxious right now, I don't know what to do with myself. I have a problem with anxiety as it is, and this isn't helping. If something doesn't happen soon, I'm going to drop! What the hell can I do?!

I work for a company that begins with W and ends with alMart and I applied for another position within the company. I was told that I would have to take a cut in pay to take the new psotion. A friend who worked for this company said that when she took another position, they took away her pay raise and she was actually making less money. Is this legal, and more specifically, is this legal in Maryland?
