I was contacted by email for a position I applied for last August. The email was inquiring whether or not I was still interested. I responded that Yes, I was still interested, and please let me know if you require any further information. In the meantime, my current supervisor was sent an Internal Assessment form to send to the people I applied for... Well, we worked on the form together, my boss spoke to the woman on the phone... As far as I know, the woman was waiting to get that information back from my boss. Today I decided to send my resume as an email attachment to the woman who contacted me, to give her a little more info about me.

I did not include a cover letter. Was that unprofessional, considering that she contacted me by email first?! Please advise...

I'm mostly referring to situations in which you are an employee, waiting on customers(as a sales rep, a server, a fast food employee, etc). There were many past jobs I had, where my employees(most of them "young punks") told me that I was really "annoying" because I was constantly perky and cheerful all the time. Then during the few times that I was sincerely angry/incensed about something and let it show a little, those same "young punks" laughed with me, sided with me, and thought it was "cool" that I was finally not being so overly happy. Are there other instances where being too happy can be a BAD thing? Also, what should one do about this? As an employee that works in the public service sector, aren't we SUPPOSED to be cheerful?

Apparently now it's not just angsty 16-yr-old employees who are annoyed with my constant cheesy happiness...now CUSTOMERS are complaining! Even much-older customers! And no I wasn't being sarcastic or fake happy, I was being bubbly.

Ok, first of I dont technically have a boss. The person in charge of production at our branch has put someone with the same title of me in charge. She is horrible. She thinks its funny to get you into trouble and tells on you in anyway she can if she does not like you. I am a leader, so I try to do things to be helpful and she takes it that I am trying to take her stupid position that pays as much as I do. She makes me and all of our co workers feel incompetent. I have went to the "boss" and nothing should I go higher? Im terrified to loose my job because I have two kids. The "boss" just says be nice to her shes had a rough life...Well who t f hasnt ? ya know!!!! She walks around shaking her hips and smirking thinking its hilarious because she knows she gets her way all the time. What do I do?

I am good at writing, but in order to write something good I need as much time as I need to be able to think about what I am writing. I am also NOT good at doing other things, i.e. interviewing, and I do NOT want to do any of that. Yet it seems like most of the jobs my professor talks about always have to do with OTHER things in addition to writing. But if I had a writing job all I would want to do is WRITE, NOT do other things, and I would want to do it at my own pace. Are there any jobs where I could do this? And if not then what kinds of jobs WOULD be good for someone like me (someone who can't work under pressure)? Will it be easy for me to find a job once I get out of college?

I am taking classes on my own time for something that is totally unrelated to my current position. My co-worker (who likes to listen in) overheard me mention that I needed to finish my homework over the weekend. He ran straight for the boss man.

I have been called in and interrogated about why I am taking things that do not relate to my current position. My position is I take things that interest me, not to mention that I am doing this on my own time. I am paying for this class; there is no reason for me to justify this to him.

It is my intention to better myself and not stay in a position where I have reached my limit. I would like to do something that interests me.

I have a 4 year solid gap in my employment history. I was drunk, and in and out of recovery. I am completely sober now, and have been for 2 1/2 years. While I was in and out of halfway houses and treatment, I worked a job for a day, another one for a few months, a few others. How do I explain this in my resume or at an interview. Everytime I fill out an application I feel I am going to confession. I made a mistake, but before it got really bad, I had good jobs. I have always been promoted to a lead position, and have worked in customer service for about 15 years. I have some college courses completed, but no degree. I need a job bad, and most jobs without a degree, I am overqualified for, I am 36 now, and I really need help. I need a job badly. Also, as luck would have it- two companies I worked for (a combination of 10 years of my life) will not verify my employment unless the place I apply to pays a 'fee' to a third party for information. Who would do that? I wouldn't.

i was working for an employer and payed at point26. due to funding i had to get another job with them. this was verbally offered at point 20 but when the contract was sent to sign, the job was offered at point 26. my employers now say they have made a mistake and the position is to be payed at point 20 thus reducing the amount of pay i will receive by £4000 approx. is my signed contract legally binding even though i verbally accepted a lower payscale???

My boyfriend is looking for a job, has been for 6 months. I have plane tickets for me and him to go to Florida for my birthday in July already booked and unrefundable.

Recently he has finally gotten an interview and it looks like a somewhat dcent lead.. However, I started thinking how bad it’s going to look for him to tell them that he has to go to Florida a few months after he’s employed for a week.

What’s the best way and time to tell the postential employer about the upcoming vacation??

I work in the health care field. I come in 2hrs before the clinic opens and get it ready for the day. This means I see 2hrs less patients than my coworkers do. Yet at the end of my day. I am beating most (if not all) of my co-workers in patients seen by a 2 to 1 margin. It seems that when they are not getting coffee, they are out to smoke. I have tried talking with management but they are spineless. I am going crazy with rage! What can I do that does not involve changing jobs or getting fired?
