when you don't know what to do? I haven't worked in 5 years due to illnesses and I'm doing better now and need to work. I do have epilepsy and I don't know how much of a problem that is, I'm still working out the meds for it. Can someone help me find the right direction..I don't know what to do, and I really need help.... is there anyone out there who can help me? Please?

Be sure to check with your doctor and make sure he can give you clearance to actually work. If he can't, then you should be able to collect disability of some sort.

::Agencies::
I suggest getting together a resume of your past work history and contacting local temporary job agencies. Discuss with them what type of work you are looking for and they should be able to help you get established. It may be temp work, or it may be temp work into a permanent position.

::Classifieds::
The want ads in the paper are usually a waste of time. They are ok to use in conjunction with other methods, but if you use them as your sole source of options, you're wasting time.

::Internet::
Also check www.ajb.org (America's Job Bank) and look for your state. Alot of employers post positions there. Also if you have your resume together, post it on Monster.com & Careerbuilder.com.

Remember, you have to put ALOT of leads out there and expect only a small response back. The jobs are not going to come knocking on your door. You need to beat down a few doors in the hopes of getting your foot in.

Also, you don't need to advise your future employers of your medical condition. It is private information. If you are asked why you were out of work for 5 years, you can simply tell them it was due to an illness. It is illegal for an employer to ask the nature of the illness.

Best of luck and I hope everything works out for you!!

As long as your condition is under control you should be able to apply for any jobs you are qualified for...except driving. I work in fast food and I had a co-worker that has epilepsy and he did a great job. Talk to your doctor about your condition and about what jobs you might be able to do. Also find out if you qualify for schooling because of this.

Most of the people that answer this type of question on here are as lost as your self-description & have lots of worthless tips. Hopefully their hearts are geniune but the minds are clueless! If i had your answer i would be employed or working independantly! I know this, if you don't have an income then this should exist http://www.usbig.net/
