My boyfriend is looking for a job, has been for 6 months. I have plane tickets for me and him to go to Florida for my birthday in July already booked and unrefundable.

Recently he has finally gotten an interview and it looks like a somewhat dcent lead.. However, I started thinking how bad it’s going to look for him to tell them that he has to go to Florida a few months after he’s employed for a week.

What’s the best way and time to tell the postential employer about the upcoming vacation??

If he is offered the job he needs to tell them right away. I would not offer the info during the interview. Most employers are understanding about these types of things. They usually try to work with people that have previous plans.

How long is this vacation?

I would tell them after you recieve the offer letter or after you know they are truly interested. They will have to come to terms on a start date and that would be a good time to tell them that he had planned a vacation a long time ago. Most companies will understand, but it really depends on the urgency of the position and the nature of the boss.

He will also need to look into the company's leave policy. He may not have enough vacation to get paid-time-off. See if they allow you to borrow PTO or take unpaid time off.

good luck

He should be flat out honest....during the interview with the boss, he should say that he would be very honored to work for that company but would like to let them know that he has a prior commitment to going to florida in July. That plane tickets are already bought and such. Hopefully he can stress that he hopes that it wont affect how they think of him, because he is one to always give 100% to his job. But he needs to say something before being hired...because it is close to the date.

I think he should have brought it up in the interview they always ask you when are you available. He should have said "ASAP, however i do have a vacation planed for July" or somthing like that if he gets hired they already know he has something plan for that month.

I think if it is a two week vacation or under - fine - I would bring it up once I got the offer

I would also offer to change it if the company would be willing to pick up the reticketing cost

Good luck

i might deliver it up contained in direction of discussing the date upon which they want you to start working. Ask first in case you coud initiate next month, and clarify why. a good company might then say that they might quite you initiate top away, yet which you would be able to get the day without work. it extremely is, do no longer initiate by using declaring it in a fashion which will fee the organization money. initiate by using discussing techniques to each accomodate one yet another.

Mention it only after they offer him the job.
