Ok, first of I dont technically have a boss. The person in charge of production at our branch has put someone with the same title of me in charge. She is horrible. She thinks its funny to get you into trouble and tells on you in anyway she can if she does not like you. I am a leader, so I try to do things to be helpful and she takes it that I am trying to take her stupid position that pays as much as I do. She makes me and all of our co workers feel incompetent. I have went to the "boss" and nothing should I go higher? Im terrified to loose my job because I have two kids. The "boss" just says be nice to her shes had a rough life...Well who t f hasnt ? ya know!!!! She walks around shaking her hips and smirking thinking its hilarious because she knows she gets her way all the time. What do I do?

She has made statements that she is afraid of someone trying to take her position. I just try to be helpful. But she is off for a few days, and come monday I am just gonna put my headphones on and try not to be helpful or show leadership by answering questions or asking the real boss questions for my co workers because she will continue to think that I want her position that is payed the same as mine. I do my job well and will continue and try not to make friends anymore.

Start looking. I have the same issues; my co-workers can do not wrong. I am supposed to make the problems go away and never let anyone know that there have been problems.
I should mention that out of the 5 people in this department, I am the youngest and the one with the least seniority. My boss did not have the balls to let anyone know what my job description was so during my first few months I did what I was instructed to (from the boss). However my co-workers thought that I was just here to shred their papers and file their work.
So the boss let them (thats a little two faced don't ya think). I had to pick up after them and let them think that my position was to serve them. I had major issues with this, so the head butting began. My boss caved into the people who yelled the loudest and I have officially been screwed.
People like this are not worth crap.
I am looking for something else. Life is too short to put up with this sh..
Good Luck.

My advice is:
Listen to your boss... be nice to her! Work hard and do a good job. Pay attention to the task at hand and do it to the best of your ability. Be supportive of your co-workers and it will show and eventually pay off. That doesn't mean sweep things under the carpet and it doesn't mean let her walk all over you. Be as professional as possible... you are there to do a job, so do it. You have already talked to your boss... don't go over his/her head except for as a last resort. In the meantime, if the situation is overly stressful and intolerable, start looking around... but don't jump ship too soon... you know what they say about the grass being greener on the other side of the fence.
Good luck!

Your boss's boss has put this person in charge, doesn't want to change things and has told you to give your boss some space. Neither your boss not your boss's boss are likely to change things for you. If you don't want to loose this job you must be the one to change.
Here are some things you can do:
- Don't let your boss's behavior upset you. She is doing her thing. Don't take it personally.
- Don't judge your boss. You can only guess what motivates her. Unless she tells you, you can never know.
- Don't resent her position, this is a waste of energy. Right or wrong, the decision has been made.
- Accept the fact you do have a boss. Accept that you must follow and do it with integrity. By that I mean bring the best of you to work that you do for her.
- Nurture your self-respect. Your goal is to support your kids and if you are achieving your goal.

There's no one right answer to a question like this. But my advice: quit, but find another job first. Life's too short to work at a job that makes you miserable. But take it from someone who's been there: quitting in a huff then having trouble finding your next job is no picnic. There's nothing like looking at an empty bank account to make you nostalgic for your crappy old boss.

First of all, I think all of us have it rough sometimes. I think your boss is wrong for just pushing your feelings aside. You should try to go to the Human Resources department if possible. If nothing happens, go to the big dog in charge. (CEO, etc.) Keep a cool a level head and you should not have to worry about your job. Good luck!

have you tried talking to her and asking why she is the way she is.. its ovious she just wants attention but soon her actions will get her in trouble.. tell your boss that you have tried being patent and cant take it anylonger.. if he does nothing it would be wise to start looking for another job.. if you cant be happy doing your job youlll stress too much over it sometimes causing emotional problems at home.. get a better job even if it means accepting a lower salary for a little while.

Start looking for another job first. When looking for a new one the person interviewing you will understand if you have a bad situation, but if you just quit without looking for something else first it is harder to get another one. People like to hire someone that is already employed. Good Luck.

If its possible to document what she is doing wrong
maybe just maybe you would have a stronger case.
Other than that you can either tuff it out or quit

You do your job, you do it well, and you document your interaction with this woman, that's what you do. Everybody has a boss, and you are not hers. Unless she is sexually harassing you or discriminating against you, she is not doing anything illegal by being obnoxious.
