I plan on wearing a suit but I am wondering if I can go a little casual and skip the tie.

For a first interview wear the suit and tie. If you end up being overdressed it will be seen as a sign of respect if you go casual and end up being underdressed it will be seen as a sign of disrespect.

No dude, it is better to over-dress for an interview.
Going in tie-less will project a cavalier attitude.
Image is an important part of sales.
