RE:
What is the maxium amount of hours considered as part time?
I'm a college freshman and I just started a job working "part time"
My boss told me I could not go over the maximum amount of hours considered part time. My question is what is the maximum amount of hours considered part time?

Part time is typically any hours under 40. Although, in collegiate settings, work-study positions are typically held to a maximum of 20 hours per week. The maximum hours considered part-time would be 39.99.

Check with your state's department of labor; some states set a standard such as "35 hrs or more equals full-time." States will have requirements for minimum wages, break/lunch times, benefits, and other conditions of employment, which may exceed or be more stringent than federal regulations. Federal and state regulations are supposed to posted in the workplace. If not there, talk to your state's labor department! Once federal & state labor laws are met, the rest is up to the employer. So it is very common for different employers to do a lot of things differently!

Any hours above 32 is consider full time. So that mean you have to stay under 32 hours. But again it varies from company to company. 32 hours is the hour that most company will consider max for part time.

It is about 30 hours a week. Federal Law defines it as 1300 hours per year, so you have to do the math.
