This is my situation. A girl that I had worked with came at me screaming and yelling , and she was pushing on me with her chest. In my defense, I put both of my hands on her and pushed her off of me. She went backwards and screamed " You put your hands on me b@#%&!!" She came after me again and started grabbing on me. She had ahold of my left arm and was pulling at me as someone was trying to get her off of me. I remember my right arm was swinging trying to get her to let go. I don't know if i had hit her in the process but, she said that I punched her in the eye. This girl came after me and I was only trying to defend myself. Am I in the wrong here, or should I have been fired? The Employer's rule is : Unacceptable conduct resulting from fighting or assault of another. They say I was aware of this rule and that I have violated it. But how is this? She came after me. If this isn't self defense, then I don't know what is.

B4 i start, pls dont judge me. I just want advice. Ive been working for an employment agency for 3 months now. They've placed me with a really great company and told me that after my 3 months were up, the company can hire me permanently. I have to tell you that my bosses (at the company im working for) are somewhat cool. The male boss is really cool and has been pushing to get me hired permanently. But his boss is a female and she likes to point out my bad qualities and broadcasts my mistakes. Well the rep from the agency just called me to tell me that my contract is being extended for another month and 1/2 and then after that time, the company may decide to hire me on. They are also restricting my responsibilities. Mind you, any mistakes ive made havent been major ones, and ive noticed that when others in the office make mistakes, its overlooked and not talked about. (fair? not really but oh well) Now heres my dilemma, I like the job, and my coworkers, but is this treatment right?

The question that i am worrying about most of all is ' why do you want this job?'. Now i know that i really want the job. Its with the Police force but not as an officer. I just cant put into words why i do. Sounds pretty stupid i know! I currently work in Banking and dislike it alot! I cant say that in the interview i know. I think its just my nerves that are making me think like this!

I was taken ill 7 wks ago with voice loss. Signed off from work initially for 2 wks. Unfortunately i didnt recover so my Doctor told me that I couldnt go to work. He relented and allowed me to work from home providing I didnt speak.
When I asked for a sick note I was told that either I was working from home and not counted as sick or if I was given a sick note then I wouldnt be allowed to do any work. So it was agreed with my boss that I would work from home until recovered. Now a 2nd Dr. has signed me off work to rest for 1 wk - no work! Boss today told me that company sick pay is 12 wks which they will be backdating it to 1st Feb & whch gives me a further 7 wks in which to recover before I have to go onto statatory sick pay. It seems unfair that they can backdate the sick pay and void all the work I have done and in effect take away 5 wks worth of sick pay that I might need. Can they do this?

For a role at a small company in San Francisco. During the interview I met with the two owners since I would be reporting to them. The interview went very well in my opinion...

I was asked when I could start and I said ASAP, which made one of the interviewers ask if I could start that afternoon. Also loved the idea that I had a clear career path, know how to use their software, and gave them an idea about their business.

Towards the end of the interview it was mentioned that they wanted to move quickly with the hiring and that they had a few more people to meet with on that Friday and they wanted to make a decision by the end of the week...Not sure if they meant this week or that Friday...It was mentioned that I was top of the list.

Anyhow, not sure if they meant by the end of the week meaning this week, so I am curious if I should enquire and how I could go about it? Also, does it sound promising and should I just leave it for them to act?

I have just booked an appointment with the Chambre de Metier in Villeneuve, then joined this forum and found that everyone is talking about the Chambre de Commerce as a starting point. Please can anyone help point me in the right direction?

I am in the "Lot et Garonne" (47), bordering the "Dordogne" (24) and "Lot" (46) regions and am hoping to start a "Micro Enterprise", looking after Gites, pool maintenance, lawn mowing, repair work, paving etc. I have a builders trailer, so can collect/dispose of large items.

I went on vacation, the day i was due to come there was a snow storm & flights were all canceled
I called my job & spoke to the assistant manager. She said that it was fine that my shift would be coverd & to have a good time. When i got back, i called work & one of my friends told me that i was not on the schedule & she did'nt know why. So i called my manager,who then informed me that i had lost my job due to job abondenment. I told her that i had called. But she said that i did'nt call her. Then one of my friends told me that she had gone to my job & two of the girls that i work with told her that i was fired & never coming back, then started to laugh. When i called to ask why they had no prob. telling a total stranger that i got fired, but could'nt tell me when i called to ask. She said that they did'nt do that. But were did my friend get that i was fired from her bum. I never told her. What should i do. I came back to total mess. I don't even know what happened.

If anyone out there happens to be a Dentist, is it worth the 4 years to become one? I've wanted to be a dentist for a very long time and I have worked in the field for 8 years, but a lot of things over time have discouraged me about it. I've put off applying for some time, but I'm still in my 20's so it's not too late. I know all jobs are what you make of them. I'm trying to decide if I want to invest in 4 years of school and being broke, or look for a job now in which I can use a biology degree. I just want an opinion.

I have been working for the same company for seven years. It is a really good paying job where I make over $90k per year. However, I am bored to tears. I sit at my desk all day and wish I was anywhere else. I bought a house and it takes more than 50% of my salary because things are so expensive here. I am also lonely because I have no family here.

I may have an opportunity to work in Mexico (Cabo area). My parents are already there and so is my boyfriend. My boyfriend thinks I am crazy to think about leaving my job! Anyway, the new job would be working/teaching others. I would make closer to $2000 per month, but could make ends meet on that salary without a mortgage.

I'm not sure if I would like it there or not. I just feel like I need a change in my life. It would take a lot of getting ready (selling house, etc) though.

Help!!

I am in the 8th grade and have ben wondering what occupation I'd like to take up-but really can't make a general decision. I know that I want to enter criminal justice, but I can't narrow it down any further than that.

I seriously thought about forensic pathology- I am very good at science and I thought this would put my skills to good use.

I also have considered detective work, becasue you know where I'll be at night- planted on the couch watching SVU. But, I decided this would be too related to police work- I am NOT comfortable around guns and I am really not that physically able.

Then I thought about law school- but I talked myself out of this very quickly. I'd never have the patience to be a lawyer, and my arguing skills are notably not that great.

What do you think? Should I continue pursuing forensics?

I clam up really badly in interviews - I will have rehearsed good answers to questions, done my research on the company yet still sit there opening and closing my mouth like a demented goldfish on the day. I'm sure my lack of confidence is very obvious - not so much about whether I can do the job, just because I'm very shy around new people unless I'm drunk!!

I get so nervous that after the interview i cant remember a single word I said, just that I talked complete unconvincing shite. Any advice would be much appreciated as I finish uni soon and I'm dreading what's next!

I've never had a job before, and I just turned 14, and I really want a job with all my friends in the summer. None of us have ever worked before, but we are interested in working summer jobs at a clothing store or something? What do you reccomend for me and my friends who want to make some money for the first time over the summer? We will be spending the entire summer in Rhode Island with my friend's family, so maybe a job around there? Any reccomendations?

I don't know whe to start, But I put up a weak resume on monster.com , ajcjobs.com, and atlantajobs.com. I am currently in school in laredo,texas but I need more guidance.
