I clam up really badly in interviews - I will have rehearsed good answers to questions, done my research on the company yet still sit there opening and closing my mouth like a demented goldfish on the day. I'm sure my lack of confidence is very obvious - not so much about whether I can do the job, just because I'm very shy around new people unless I'm drunk!!

I get so nervous that after the interview i cant remember a single word I said, just that I talked complete unconvincing shite. Any advice would be much appreciated as I finish uni soon and I'm dreading what's next!

The best interview advice I've ever received is that you should remember that the people interviewing you are 100% on your side and really really really want to be able to offer you the job. Why? Because recruiting takes up loads of time from people who have plenty of other things to do, is generally a pain in the neck, half the time the person you end up with is no good/leaves and you'll have to do it all over again in a few month's time.

When you go in, just remember that they are desperately hoping that you will be 'the one' and they can get back to their normal lives! As you are going in they are feeling exactly the same as you - hopeful and a little nervous (please let this be the one), and if they can offer you the job they will feel just as relieved as you. They will be understanding of the odd mistake and overlook the odd crisis of confidence if overall you are what they are looking for.

Just understanding that can give you a real confidence boost.

Gain confidence by doing do some "practise" interviews with friends or relatives ...

You could also consider joining a Amateur Drama group = after all, life largely consists of acting a part :-)
