For a role at a small company in San Francisco. During the interview I met with the two owners since I would be reporting to them. The interview went very well in my opinion...

I was asked when I could start and I said ASAP, which made one of the interviewers ask if I could start that afternoon. Also loved the idea that I had a clear career path, know how to use their software, and gave them an idea about their business.

Towards the end of the interview it was mentioned that they wanted to move quickly with the hiring and that they had a few more people to meet with on that Friday and they wanted to make a decision by the end of the week...Not sure if they meant this week or that Friday...It was mentioned that I was top of the list.

Anyhow, not sure if they meant by the end of the week meaning this week, so I am curious if I should enquire and how I could go about it? Also, does it sound promising and should I just leave it for them to act?

If they are going to hire you, they will, relax. It won't help if you start calling around asking questions.
Relax..

They probably meant the end of this week since they still had others to interview the same day last Friday. But rather than assume, give them a call to thank them for the interview. Ask them if there is any other information you can give them, or any further questions they have that would help them make a decision. You come off as polite instead of pushy, and you find out what you want to know at the same time.

Best is leave it for the time-being and let the time take its own course !!!
