I have been working for the same company for seven years. It is a really good paying job where I make over $90k per year. However, I am bored to tears. I sit at my desk all day and wish I was anywhere else. I bought a house and it takes more than 50% of my salary because things are so expensive here. I am also lonely because I have no family here.

I may have an opportunity to work in Mexico (Cabo area). My parents are already there and so is my boyfriend. My boyfriend thinks I am crazy to think about leaving my job! Anyway, the new job would be working/teaching others. I would make closer to $2000 per month, but could make ends meet on that salary without a mortgage.

I'm not sure if I would like it there or not. I just feel like I need a change in my life. It would take a lot of getting ready (selling house, etc) though.

Help!!

Hi There.

Well i can understand your uncertainty of what to do in a case like this. In my opinion, work is a big part of most people lives now days. I understand where wanting to make a good living and making 90k a year sounds great. Almost too good to give up. On the other hand though, you are going to work every single day bored, and non-interested in being there. I know we can't always enjoy our work on a daily basis, but wouldnt it be nice to actually enjoy some of the days you must be there. Sometimes life isn't always about the money, and we have to do things based on what is best for ourselves and our situation. Honestly, $2000 a month is not a bad living. Yes you will have to make some sacrifices but in the end you will probably walk away feeling better about where you are (near family, near boyfriend) and the job that you are doing. I'm sure you visited down there several times, maybe another visit should be in the works and honestly get into the thought that Cabo could be home and see how you really feel about it. Changes are always good, even though sometimes it takes a little encouragement from those around to actually do it. Good luck with your decision and your job. Take Care.

Do you have to move to Mexico? That seems like a big jump. I would first look for another job that would keep you happy, afterall, we spend more time at work than at home. Being miserable at work is no fun.

Yes, if I was bored, I would leave. I would make sure I had a decent amount of savings, before I made the leap.

Stick to the job that is in your hands respecting the proverb, "a bird in hand is better than thousands in the sky" !!!
