I have been in the search for employment for the last few months and I recive more rejections from propective employers because of a bad credit history. In a perfect world I'd have a great paying job and not be behind in my credit but sadly no one goes hiring you when your credits bad. WHy is that? It seems like a strong case of discrimination to not hire someone simply because their credit isnt satisfactory, regardless of whether or not they are qualified for the position. Love to hear everyones views on this sad job state of this country.

I am job hunting. And after a period of weeks of hearing nothing, I finally got offered a position. It's a temporary position, but the skill I gain from it will put me in a much stronger place in my career.

Since being offered the position, I've had several calls from other companies offering interviews. One company is one that I'd really like to work for. Do I interview, ask them to hold till the temporary appointment is over? Is it OK to turn down a position I've already accepted (they had a hard time filling as few are qualified)?

Right now I have a solid offer, and the others are just interviews. What is the etiquette in job seeking?

How does one become a slave in this day and age?

Would dropping out of school for a while look bad to employers on a resume, even if the person had good reasons too, went back to school, got good grades, made good use of the time off, etc? Or does it usually look bad regardless, you think? I'm just wondering if anyone has had experience with this. There's a lot of hear-say, esp. of parents that say "don't drop out! it'll look bad!", especially for those going to grad school, but how's in real life and not just by parental fears? Thanks.

I'm doing a career report for school and was hoping if one of you can spare a little time for me to do an interview online...I'd really appreciate since I'm really leaning towards Pharmacy in college next year. If your not a pharmacist then dont bother answering.

If you're job searching, is it proper business etiquette to inquire on the salary in the beginning, that way you don't waste yours and their time? I've been told yes and no. What does anyone think who's been in the job force awhile?

I've seen an advert for offshore oil rig work quoting fantastic wages, 2 weeks work then 2 weeks off, with a company called Offshore select. When I contacted them they gave me details but asked for 21 pounds for more info. This seems a bit scammish. Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience of similar companies and whether it is as good as it sounds or just another con!!

I am trying to take care of my elderly mother who has severe diabetes and early onset Alzheimers. It is impossible to leave her at home alone and we cannot afford in-home care or a nursing home. ( I refuse to put her in one anyway.) I am an only child so have no siblings to help me with her and my father has passed away, so it is just her and I. I am just trying to find some kind of online work that legitimately pays and is not a scam like so many out there, so I can be able to stay at home and take care of my mom. Does anyone know of any opportunities out there that are not scams? Most I have seen want money up front and that doesn't make sense to me to have to pay to work. Has anyone tried anything that works and pays decent? I'm not looking to get rich, just get by.

H/R departments know this cause they get thousands of Resumes or applications for any opening! So what is the real UNEMPLOYMENT % Nationwide?
