I Paid $3500 for a fence. The company came and finshed most of the work but never completed some of the finishing work and never adjusted the gate. I keep getting excuses now like ill be there tomorrow ect. Now the gate just broke completly off because it was never adjusted right and opens with a little bit of wind. Should I threaten to take him to court I dont know if it is worth it. I also never got a final receipt from him gave me an excuse about that as well. I do have the cashed checks. any advice on how to handle this situation would be graetly appreciated.

I am just about to graduate from college and am a serious competitor in an artistic sport of which I have a chance to succeed in. According to studies, it takes 10 years of hardwork to become a master at anything. So, I am giving myself that amount of time for success.

What are jobs that require less time (more time for practice for the sport) and a decent salary?

I am not a big spender. I consider myself frugal. I am willing to still live within the standards of a college student to achieve my goal.

I plan on spending (smartly) for what I need for the sport. (Weekly lessons=$30-$50+ a piece. Competitions every month= $250+)

I would love your insight.

Email? I know you are supposed to give a two week notice, but I am not good at face to face conflict, or even by phone. Plus, this is a little higher than minimun wage job and my boss can talk rather loud. I just wanna leave once my new job arrives. Anybody have any "Job Quitting" stories?

I was called for the first interview in one company and they requested that I bring filled background check form. I had to reveal my age. I was not called for the second interview. I think that asking about age is illegal.

I have been approached by career consultants rather than main companies (so far). They provide free training and offer job to companies who are their clients. Things sound good. But is that the real story? Can any one help me, possibly with real experience?

This morning at the end of my regularly scheduled shift, 10:45 pm to 6:45 am, there was a meeting about new health insurance at my work.
The company rep passed out a questionaire about medical history.
One section asked if, and I quote, "Over the last 3 years have you or your dependents been treated for a major illness", then it listed some health issues as examples. There were three on the list that pertained to my spouse and myself. At the end of the question it said something to the effect that if we had incurred claims of over $5000.00 in that time we had to list them. Well that also pertained to me.
I informed the company rep that I had items that should be listed in this section.
The company representative, HR person, informed us that the insurance company was going to use these forms to set our companies rates. She came just short of asking me to lie on this form.

When I came to work tonight I recieved a lay-off notice. Coincidence, I don't know.

I have pushy parents. I want to pursue a career in filmmaking, but my parents want me to become a doctor, because they think it's the "safe" path in life. I really want to make movies, but they say I won't be successful. I can't secretly apply for USC when I'm 17 and they'll deny me ANTHING that I can possibly boost my resume with. They're even already taking steps for me to be a doctor (they signed me up for a PSAT resume program for UCI, the best med school in southern California). I know they just want me to be successful, but i know there's more to life than money. What should I do?
