I just got feedback that I looked down too much during an interview. They perceived me as being less confident and shy.

How do you maintain eye contact without staying at the person intently during an Interview? I do feel that I have the experience and can do the job, but have a hard time showing it.

Any suggestions of techniques that have worked?

If you apply for a job at a company that primarily speaks one language, should persons who cannot speak that language be allowed to go to the interviews with them?
Not talking about sign language, but language interpreters.
My thought is this though- you will need one for the interview, but wouldnt you also need one to learn how to do the job correctly?

I know you cannot discriminate on things like that- but we all know some people would do that. What are your thoughts on it?

I see all these online gimicks and get paid to this and that but are they really for real? I mean you read all these success stories of how to get paid for filing out a survey or entering data on the internet. But then you get down to the bottom and it says for a low cost of $49.99 you could have all this too. I mean if it's like any other job why do you have to pay for it. I've been unemployed since the first of January. I got laid off after seven years and I've been looking for something around town for work but then I realized I'd rather do something at home then go to another office and be away from my kids. My husband is moving to Florida for a year at the end of May. He was the one who took care of our kids during the day while I went to work. Both my kids will have to go to day care and I can't afford that. If anyone knows of a real online job that pays good and doesn't cost please let me know.

I've been at this job for about 7wks now as a Front Desk Recept. However my boss recently wanted to meet with me to tell me that when my 3 months are up he would like to give me a raise, he has figured that he wants me to be a long term employee&he noticed I am a key person to his medical practice.
So, of course I know this since I deal with almost everything in the office, not only front desk duties I do everything, check in-check out, data input, order office supplies, deal with their business lisence, etc fix any problems with their computers/printers, I've changed so many things in their office already so we now have an easier work flow, make sure that patients have things they need to have for the practice to get paid, changed some of their forms around the office so they are easier to read and understand, setting up different accounts for the office, some credentialing, take patients back and check vitals,in other words I am the receptionist/manager/administrator/medical assist.

My boss came to me and told me that I was to get a raise and several other of my co-workers were going to as well. My co workers would ask me about any raises coming up and I told them what my boss had said. Turns out I am the only one who got the raise. I know I messed up by running my mouth. But what should I do now?

Because he smells?
Because he groans all day long?
Because he is inefficient?
Because he chews with his mouth open?
Because he is a Russian immigrant who can barely speak English?
Because he distracts the hell out of me all day?

We have an on-going problem of employees using company equipment for personal use, primarily company issued laptops, installing entertainment software and not being able to install work applications, overloading memory with enormous personal files (usually pictures), why not do this at home where it would be less embarassing when the employer wants the equipment back?

We do take a particular interest in cleaning off these machines ourselves, its just too entertaining.

I work for HMS Host in Charlotte, NC. On Monday I was confronted by the loss prevention officer and suspended for 3 days for investigation of not ringing up sales. I work as a server in a small bar setting. Do I have any rights in this matter? Do they need to show me any evidence to suspend me or fire me? they never said exactly what I did, or actually said they had evidence, everything was implied. When I refused to confess to anything, that's when they suspended me. I am supposed to go back in for meeting today.
