The best thing I ever did was hire a professional resume writer.

Like everyone else, for years I used Word and plagiarized good examples off the web and tailored it to myself.

And it worked for a while. However, when seeking positions and the Director level and above...I was looking an amateur and a fool.

So I hired a resume writer...a good one.

And I got almost immediate results. Spend the 400.00 bucks and interview with the resume writer and have him/her tailor it to you. Best money I ever spent.

My first suggestion - Do NOT use the MS word resume builder. Doing that just gives you a resume that looks like everyone else's that uses it. Some interviewers will toss out resumes that look like no effort was put into them, even though the person may be qualified. Unless you have a lot of education or work experience (which sounds like you're young, so you prob don't), then make it one page only. Don't put too much text either - leave some white space for visual appeal. Emphasize your accomplishments. Don't put anything on there that would specifically reveal your gender, age, nationality, religion, etc unless you have to. Some people may disagree with me on this one, but forget about the all-too common "objective" section in the resume. Since you are giving someone a resume, it's obvious your objective is to get a job, so it's not necessary. But by all means, include it if you need to fill some room. Beware of using terms such as "fast learner", "motivated", "excellent personality", since they are your opinion and can sometimes be red flags to potential interviewers. They want to see measurable things you have done, and not what you think of yourself. If you need help, there are a lot of resources that can help you. I'd stay away from sites that charge you, since with a little work, you can put together a good resume on your own. If you are in school, check with your career services office and they will have tons of resources for you.

One web page always! you should get your resume all the way down to one web page, yet that does no longer recommend that's prevalent. you want to be direct and to the point of the job itemizing and the corporation. A resume in undemanding words receives skimmed so it should be to the point and dynamic so it stands out and shows you've the preparation and journey for the area. make certain that's obviously written and has NO typos. Have it appeared at by ability of as a lot of human beings as plausible who've journey with resumes and take all advice to options in spite of in case you received't agree. Take resume training at your college also. those who evaluate resumes for jobs are very choosy.
