What would I put down why I left a job that I was very unhappy in without sounding like a bad applicant? I have already put from my job after that one that I was looking for a job with an opportunity for advancement so I don't want to put that down again.

I worked in the accounting office of a small company. Three employees. After my coworker the Accounts Payable Person quit, my boss gave me more work. I was overwhelmed with work. I was to have two weeks vacation. But my boss said that I have to cooperate into not using my vacation until further notice.

Reason is because I have to help with payroll. I compromised by saying I would only take 4 days of vacation. She let me. But then I started complaing it is not fair I can use a whole week for vacation. I began complaining and she fired me without warning. Is that right?? My boss takes a whole month vacation every december to go to the phillipines and I was fired for complaining that I can't use my vacation completely?? Is that right?

Im 27 years old and have been working as a casino dealer in Atlantic City for 7 years now. It was a great learning experience and I gained a lot of skill working there. HOWEVER for the last three years ive been growing increasingly disgruntled with my profession. Ive been wanting to leave this business in a heartbeat....its disgusting, but the money is too good.

Im very interested in training for a new carrer and dont know what my options are. I could go to college but thats a long term goal Im looking for something new to get started in by the end of the year.

A position is available to me because someone has retired, there are 3 others that want this position. It is possible that they will quit if they are passed up. I am pregnant ( no one @ work knows yet) and I'm about 80% sure I will NOT return to work after the baby arrives. A lot could happen in 8-9 months left and since I'm not 100% sure I'll quit do I take the position and see what happens or do I step aside & let someone who will be more permanent have the position?

Seems to me that a lot of large firms switched from floater secretaries physically moving from desk to desk to having stationary floaters due mainly to health/ergonomic/efficiency concerns. Does the Labor Code, Healthy & Safety or OSHA have anything to say regarding this?

I just accepted a new part-time job and told my current boss that I was leaving. The problem is that when I told my current boss I was leaving to go back to school, he asked me to stay part-time but I said "No, I think I will be too busy with school". I only said no at the time becuase I don't really like the job I was at and want to work part time in another industry.

I want to know if it is normal for a new employer to call my current employer before I start my new job? I am worried that the new employer will find out that I told my current employer I was only going to be in school and I'm also worried about not being able to use my current boss as a reference if he finds out I really got another job.

I've been off work for four days with flu and a chest infection – someone called in for me and on the third day they said I'd be off a few days. I went to the doctors today; he gave me a doctor's note and said to stay off for another week.

I work in a call centre, so 5am starts talking on the phone for 8 hours with a sore throat, sore ears and still feeling very ill, this additional week off is a good idea.

Thing is my manager is apparently very annoyed that I am off work so I am worried about any possible repercussions, I am wondering will a sick note will be enough to stop them trying to fire me or put me onto disciplinary for sickness?

I'm also wondering am I right in thinking sick pay with a sick note is provided by the government rather than work – how much should I be getting while on the sick?

Should I call into work to let them know what's happening and say I have a sick note?

I'm not used to being off for this length of time, so not sure about these things.

I have worked at my current job for 2 years now, and I am the assistant to an administrator in a long term care facility. My boss and I have gotten really close within my time here. We work side my side together everyday, so we end up being each others shoulder to cry on occasionally. She has helped me through alot of my personal problems and has been very understanding. I recently married in October and had to relocate 45 miles away...about an hour away from my current job. Gas money and wear and tear on my car is really causing a burden on us financially. I have no choice but to find a job closer to home. I have a few prospects at the moment and one of them is really promising. I have not been offered a job yet, but I know that I will continue to look until I do. Is it a good idea to tell my boss and let her know the situation? I feel it is wrong not to tell her, but then alot of people are telling me not to. What should I do?

When asked about a manager who tends to profusely publicly complement his fellow minority employees while relatively relatively inaccessible to others, rarely complementing them and aggressively avoiding acknowledging their work, IBM executes answer that "it is not discrimination, just bad business." Is this a load of hooey or is it a true and sound statement. If someone aggressively avoids acknowledging hard work in any tangible meaningful way of some and aggressively puffs others is it a difference without a distinction to say its not discrimination, it's just bad management

seems to me of late IBM executives are increasingly willing to sweep their mess under the rug instead of deal with it
