My boss is inept and I accidentally make her look bad. I am a good employee but my boss keeps me from being promoted. I like the company but my boss is insane. She is well-connected and good at putting on fronts. No one knows she is this horrible behind the scenes. Advice?

1. Talk to her directly and tell her that you're interested in getting promoted. Does she have any recommendations? What area's do you need improvement... etc.
2. Start looking for another job and document any forms of harrasment.
If the company sees here as a great person, while she's totally inept... then you're on a sinking ship.
An employee should always have an up-to-date resume. No matter how secure they feel their job is.

you get your resume together and look for another job where you work with people you can respect and that respect you. Its not worth wasting your time working for someone who you think is inept.
