Complaining and filing an equal opportunity complaint are different things. The answer to your question is YES. Most organizations do disclose that your employment is at your will and the company also reserves the right to terminate employment at any moment for any reason. It is legal so as long as it wasn't retribution for filing a complaint or whistleblowing. Most companies also reward their employees vacation time as part of their benefits, however it is the company's work schedule, taskings and manpower that are used by supervisors and department leads to determine if vacation dates can be approved or not. It may have not been the "right" thing to do, but your boss was within her right. For future reference, I would recommend that you research your company's equal opportunity policiy. I believe most companies are required to select or designate an employee to oversee the policy. They are trained by authorized people and designated to process and investigate EO complaints. When you feel that you have been denied benefits entitled to you because of EO issues, you can file a complaint and it will be investigated. This is the most effective way to complain about an issue in the workplace because it sort of guarantees your job. Most employers do not want to fire someone who has filed a EO complaint.

They were a small office and short a person. They did you a favor but letting you have four days off. You should have just filled the gap until someone else was hired and then taken days off. Life does not revolve around you, you should have kept your mouth SHUT. Your boss is more impotent then you on the company ladder. They get privileges you do not.

my question is why won't be able to mexican immigrants come the following LEGALLY? confident, the known of existence ought to seem extra ideal, yet that would not make it ok for them to illegally go the boarder to stay the following. there are more than a number of rationalization why unlawful immigrants are not welcome. maximum take jobs from those who're legally the following, some do not pay taxes, they don't have social safe practices numbers that you want in case you want to stay interior the U. S. legally. you want a SSN for in reality each thing; jobs, drivers licenses, charge playing cards, economic agency expenses, etc. that is only a very diverse device than Mexico. the U. S. makes it difficult for unlawful immigrants to receives a fee and licenses because they are unlawful!! they are breaking the regulation. that is not honest to human beings to have their jobs taken faraway from them because an unlawful immigrant will do the same artwork for far less and then do not ought to pay taxes, or have taxes taken out of their pay. i'm not declaring that it really is the objective of all unlawful immigrants, notwithstanding that is the impact set upon the U. S., and is frequently the case.

It depends on what state you work in. I know that here in Texas, it is an "at will" state.....meaning, you can be fired anytime with no warning. I would still check with a specialized attorney (free first time consultation) just to be sure, but it sounds as if you were overworked.

Some companies have a policy on terminating employment. They don't have to have a legitimate reason to let you go. It's called at will... Your boss just sounds like an ***.

Depends on your employment contract - what does it say ?
No contract is called "at will" and either party can terminate for any reason except discrimination based on race , religion, gender or ethnic background.
You or they can call it quits because you don't like the color of the shirts they wear !

No. You have a valid complaint to take up with EEOC. Hire a lawyer and file a harrasment complaint and your company will probably settle out of court and you can make a bunch of money.

At will employment.
You can check with a lawyer, but I think you can be fired for any reason.
