I just notice that when used, the smell comes back about a hour so later! Try It!!

I believe it will cover-up some smells for a while, and it likely has some disinfectant properties. The problem is that if you have a powerful smell that isn't caused by bacteria or mold, it is likely the bad smell will come back.

Plus, I don't like how fabreeze smells so I don't like the "cover-up" smell.

A deep cleaning (from a wet/dry vacuum) is likely to work much better because the stuff that caused the smell will be sucked out.

I believe that Febreeze smells so bad itself that it only masks the original foul odor for a while. When it wears off, the original bad smell returns.

I agree. Febreeze tries to say that it "eliminates" the odor. I think it just masks it like any other air freshener. I do like the smell of it, though, so I keep using it.
