Seems to me that a lot of large firms switched from floater secretaries physically moving from desk to desk to having stationary floaters due mainly to health/ergonomic/efficiency concerns. Does the Labor Code, Healthy & Safety or OSHA have anything to say regarding this?

The way I understand the situation it sounds more like a business decision for maximum efficiency than for worker safety. Although ergonomics could be a concern if they customize the workplace for each employee it would make more sense to keep them in one location instead of having to bring their office equipment with them from assignment to assignment.

Federal OSHA has no ergonomics standard, California is the only state OSH plan that I am aware of that has an enforcible ergonomics plan.
