Some countries dont have a retirement age as it is regarded as age discrimination. I personally support retirment age to not only make way for younger generation and put fresh blood into a business but also because some people just dont know when to quit and allow themselves sufficient time to prepare for ...the ultimate. One should always spend some years free from work to pursue other activities whatever they may be.

India has a retirement age since it is only a 60 year old country after it's true freedom.

US does not have a particular age, but people get golden parachutes and they jump off the fast moving train.

So, you are right. If you are enjoying why retire.

In fact, www.ameriprise.com has great articles on how one to start planning for a 2nd career at age 50 since we will now live to age 75 to 90 (easily).

Good luck.

It's not only about liking / enjoying what people do... it has also to do with maintaining / growing what you've build and, at certain age, your skills to drive a business are no the same (you can't think as fast and as creative or need more rest or time at the hospital), then retirement age avoids people getting to the point where they can no longer contribute.

In an over populated country like India, where there are no proper measures taken to curb poverty,a retirement age is necessary to pave way for new recruitments.Must remember that the show must go on,come what may.

Retirement is state of mind. It has to be understood in the context of personal level and competative level. Personally if you format your mind to optimal use then there is no scope for retirement. In competative world and in the context of coexistance in society retirement is always an area which a person has to deal with to be appropriate about a persons requirement in a given position.

Becasue when you get old, you tire out, employers dont want you and you dont want to work.

I think in every country you should retire at 55. Give opportunity to younger generation who need jobs. Government hate to see people retire - look in to it and you'll realise its true (longer pention).
