Where is a great place to live, that is still growing, jobs not to far away and weather allows swimming at least more than 2x a year?

Charlotte NC! Not too hot in the summers, rarely snows, between mountains and the ocean, every apt. complex has a pool that you can use about 9 months out of 12, affordable living but a growing economy, on a great airplane hub so you can affordably fly back to OR, not so southern that you'll have a major culture shock (I'm originally from NY where people do NOT slow down for anything!) and pretty much perfect! The downtown is a great mix of authentic south and eclectic multiculturalism.

Idaho seems to be growing right now in terms of population and job opportunities. Our weather is beautiful and definitely allows swimming time in the summer. It is a beautiful state that many oregon natives are starting to come to.

Bullhead City, Arizona, or across the river is Laughlin, Nevada. Excellent weather, it's like a smaller Las Vegas, and only 90 miles south of Vegas. Winters are very mild, summers are very hot. I lived there for 10 years before moving to Chicago, and plan on moving back there this summer.

Arkansas. Seriously, much of our land is still under-developed and there are lots of jobs around where I live. (One hour north of Little Rock in a town about 20,000 people). It's beautiful kind of like oregon, lots of pine trees here, hills, lots of grass, and nice people to boot. Plus it's cheaper to live here. I've been in this state 5 years and I will probably never move back to the west coast. Summer's here are much like on the west coast, HOT! And--they are long, which means a lot of swim time. Almost 3 months worth.

Do you mean outdoor swimming during what would be the winter? Metro Portland is fine for swimming during the summer months so exceeding 2x is not hard.

Would you consider a southern state? FL, TX or CA come to mind.

That's easy. Pensacola...It is really growing. I live 30 mins outside of it and can swim a lot. It isn't nearly as wet and dreary!
I even know some people hiring if you need a job.
You can e-mail me at the web site on the bottom.

Good Luck,

Move to Virginia. There are mountains, the ocean, cities, farms, great colleges, close to DC, hiking, rafting, we get all 4 seasons, the list goes on

You could always try OK, one day you could be sweating and swimming and the next day freeze you butt off. I love this state and my Sooners....
