I just interviewed for a bartending job, which seemed to go extremely well (you never know of course!) and ended with the interviewer telling me that they would be contacting people in the next couple of days for second interviews. Here's a couple of other things that i am wondering:

Is a thank you letter overkill considering that it was just an initial screening interview or should I send emails after every interview?

Should I explain why I am the perfect fit for them in my initial thank you email or should I "save some ammunition" for the second interview?

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Will no one hire you if you worked at a Wal-Mart for two years?

If one has the qualifications to work at a higher-up job, will they frown upon that person if he worked at a Wal-Mart for a while?

Quite seriously, a straight-faced interviewer asked me if I were a piece of fruit, what would it be and why? I answered pomegranate because there is more to the inside than what you first may perceive from looking at the outside. I didn't get the job. I suppose they were more a 'pear and grapes' kind of company.

I lost my Job this week. Was living paycheck to paycheck. I have blls monthly about $4K and Unemployment will pay me about $2K a month. I need an extra $2K a month. I can either cash out my 401K ( I no loner work there so I have to withdraw the full amount) of $68K . With taxes I will lose about $30K but the $38K will last me quite a while OR I can borrow about $12K from a home equity line ( Pay interest only) I currently am borrowing $26K on that at 8.25% . I may never be able to pay back that money so I am leaning to taking out the 401K and if get work quickey put back as much as I can into a IRA plan.

Any thoughts on this??

And then not follow through so you can look like an a** and get your temp assignment cut short? Especially after confiding how everyone at her last job hated her because she was beautiful/model? Especially knowing she'll be back in her position in a week and a half and that her boss likes her? I don't. But I will remember her name, Mwahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!

I answered that way because in past experiences, at other other retail stores, I have been given cash, gift cards, merchandise, etc. Did I answer wrong? Is the key word "take" ? Help!! Can I explain my logic to them? I am scheduled for an interview.

I just started a job this week and Im already having doubts about it. See, my problem is is that my boss who is a Loan agent wants me to cold call her current clients to see if there is anything that we can do for them as far as their mortgage or financial needs. My issue is is that I HATE telemarketing and cold calling and thats not something that I want to do to our customers...esp our current customers because I dont want to push them away. What my boss needs is New customers...but all she keeps saying is that she wants to market to her current customers that alreays have a good rate on their home loan. I dont get it. I have even started looking for another job because of this. I am so lost right now I dont know what to do. I DO NOT WANT TO COLD CALL OR TELEMARKET TO OUR CURRENT CUSTOMERS! so, should i look for another job, or what? please tell me what I should do about this situation.

This has always bothered me. They always want you to call first. Sure they have so many applicants so this will show if you are really interested but hello, thats why I applied and came in for an interview. I never know if I should call them or not because some places may want you to ,others may get annoyed. They said they'd get in contact with me whether or not I got the job. This was on Wednesday. What would you advise me to do?

They make me replace every garbage can in the entire store. Clean the stock room completly. A room filled with garbage and boxes up to my head. Then I have to take all the carts at the stock room outside. Then I have to bring the defected items to the stock room and put them in the empty toats. Then the bathrooms and fitting rooms must be swept clean. Then you have to run outside, sweap the parking lot and collect every shopping cart in the parking lot. meanwhile you have to deal with every spill that comes your way. is $7.40 an hour enough money for going through all that crazyness?

I handle my job well according to people in the other departments we work with. I am reliable and always trying to help out in our department. When my boss was just the assistant in our department she use to sing my praises, now that she has been promoted she loaths me. I know from other workers that she discusses me in a negative manner to other people openly. She is friendly to most everyone in out department other than me. My uberboss is alway complimenting me on how I handle troubleshooting and other complicated projects, insisting that she never has to worry if the assignment has been given to me. I have made it know that I am not interested in promotion so my boss shouldn't see me as a threat. I do not, however, kiss butt.
